Both are very nice.

is that going on this weekend?

Excellent! Details on the Heritage?

I don't think it is a Heritage, rather the real deal?

Oh yes.....that's all there is to say:)

Superformance? RH drive?

Golly, the Gulf colored cars are gorgeous!!! I love mine and every time I see one I get googley eyed :)

Yes - it's a replica - you can tell by the door handle!

The rivets in the headlight lenses tip me off.

Rick, saw your cars there. They looked great, as for most of the rest of the show, I wonder why we keep going.... Anyway, see you this summer somewhere.

Don't know if its an SPF car but those are not rivots on the lamp covers, they are screws. Some originals had those door handles and some had the other style. Heritage paint haha you guys.

Yes - most original GT40's had the door handles as pictured, as these were built for all the original cars - all the way to P/1086 (P/1084 shown here)

However, P/1075 had the door handles of the Mirage makeover and retained them when the car was converted back to a GT40, and it has retained these handles to this day, as seen below:

I took the pictures below of P/1075 at Laguna Seca in 2009 when Rob Walton let it be displayed as the premier item in the Rolex Tent

I've only seen one replica of P/1075 with these correct Mirage door handles, and that was owned by Martin Bartek and he had it displayed at the Hospitality Area at Le Mans in 2010.

Nice call Ralphie. The door handles and the single gas fill are the usual giveaways, even for the best replicas.

You guys realize there are several other GT40s other than 1075 that have the other style door handles and dual caps?

Yes - P/1074, the other Mirage rebuild, and P/1076, the 3rd JWA team car, which used some extra Mirage parts which were available when it was built in 1968.

The remaining cars, P/1077 through P/1085 (and the later completed P/1086), were built with the original styled door handles (flat horizantal bar type)

PS - I've seen pictures of P/1074 with both the Mirage and the original bar door handles, although it is sometimes hard to distinguish it from P/1084 which replaced it in the JWA lineup, after it was modified as the camera car for "Grand Prix."

I saw the Superperformance Car at Fabulous Fords in 2009 and and could only fit my knee and one leg in the door so I did the same P1075 setup with race decals on my Heritage. People ask, I say "Period Correct"

Ralphie, I'm coming your way, moving to Tahoe (Nevada Side) in June.

While the San Diego area is probably one of the best locations to live in the nation (I grew up down there), it has become so crowded that it's very difficult to venture out and not be in heavy traffic anymore. I left the Diamond Bar area 25 years ago for the same reason.

I think you'll like the Tahoe area, and in Reno, you can get virtually anything you might have want for, so the larger city availabilities are negated. If you get to missing the views of the ocean, you can always drive down there or to any of the spots between SD and San Francicsco.

Congratulations, and welcome to the Sierras! - :thumbsup

Ralphie, do you know what kind of replica Martin had? Must've been a pretty accurate rendering if he had Mirage style door handles.
