My buddy has talons not hands

Crazy story. Good luck with the fix!

Just wanted to update everyone on this. Steve received the seat and is suggesting a totally new skin for it at a cost of 1250.00. Going forward I’m going to be very aware of who sits in my GT and what they grab lol.

Is Edward Scissor Hands offering to help out with the repair?

NAh. I wouldn’t ask him to anyways.

I still the seat could be inserted with new leather! A lot cheaper!

Wow, that strikes me a quite a good value, 1250 for a whole leather redo. You should have sent your drivers seat, as you might want that one freshened as that one will now look new...

He should have instantly INSISTED on paying for it. 'Can't believe he didn't.

Buuuut, mebbe that's just me...

I got a couple of big dents in my car is your buddy around?

That’s just for the seatback.

That makes more sense.

Update.
Steve Hemstock of Knights Upholstery in Wisconsin did a great job on the seat. As a matter of fact he did it twice because HE wasn’t happy with the first repair. For all of you that contemplate getting a seat repaired I will strongly recommend you do both the seat back and the bottom. Mine are now quite distinguishable from each other but Im ok with it.
Thank you to all my forum brothers that chimed in and have such on point advice and recommended Steve. This is without a doubt the best car forum there is.

looks like it came out pretty good

You can get your bottoms to match with a good cleaning.

That shine is caked on perspiration, grease, oil, soot, dirt, etc.

Use a cap-ful of Wooolite in 1/2 gallon of very hot water with thick microfiber cloth .

Wipe down seats with damp-cloth (don’t rub!) and wringnout cloth in second bucket of clean water, which will be black after.

2-3 passes on each seat and should be matte finish and taut surface.

It sounds like you got passed the really pissed off stage quickly. Good job on the repair. It’s better keep an old friend as well, since it sounds like he could rip off your nose.

You need new friends maximus!

Ed

Truth! Wow. I'd say you definitely have a chip to cash in from him someday!

You are a good friend. Glad you took it in stride.

Ernie, I have tried to think how I would react.... I don't know but you did put friendship b4 material things in this case. Wow

Make a jacket out of the old skins and give it to your buddy for a holiday gift. Tell him that he is requested to wear it anytime he gets in your car. And when I say jacket for him, I mean strait-jacket. ;)
