Mistake or foresight

I gave up my allocation for the v10 r8 version for 2009.
They cannot give details. Cost in Canadian coin 195K is speculative but not guaranteed. The v10 is speculatively 530hp. The engine is specutively the V10 form the gallardo. Speculatively is to be faster then the gtr and zr1 at the Nurberg. 0-60 3.5-3.7.

What I do know. The gt has a 500 rear wheel hp on a dyno.
0-60 is 3.3 to 3.8.
It looks like nothing else and is limited. (The r8 almost the same look v10 or v8and the front of an a5 can easily be mistaken for the r8 especially at night.)
Although they have appreciated in the US they have depreciated in Canada to be equal to American prices. All new cars sold for <200K are depreciating other than the GT.
The Gt has lots of aftermarket parts and is relatively easily serviceable.
It's only kink in its armor has been remedied in regards to reliability.(axle bolt)

i CANNOT seem to let the GT go.

Mistake or foresight?

NOthing has eclipsed its overall appeal other than collectors items. I do not yet consider the gt a collectors item.

They are saying the same thing about the tdi version although it is confirmed to go into production.

Buy another GT until something else is on the floor that drives your passions. :biggrin

There are a couple of R8's that have popped up in my neighborhood. I haven't seen them up closely but just tooling around town.
From what I've read and seen, they are very impressive machines. But they're cars. Just cars.
The GT is far more than that. History, unique design, awesome performance, iconic.
Seems to me that they have nothing in common and are un-substitutable.

A friend came over and looked at my 911 Turbo and my GT. He said, "wow, one's a street car you can take to the track" (the everyday supercar), "the other is a race car that you can take on the street" (the super car every day). The 911 is great, I love it, but I don't get the sense of 'occassion' that I get when I climb into the (any) GT. The GT will always make me smile when I get in. I expect that's equally attributable to your choice.

The Audi (Lambo etc) are sort of flavour of the month don't you think? I think that unlike those cars, the GT is going to be a classic. R8's (R10's, RTDi's [or whatever they'll be called]) are really great, but I'd keep the GT.

Just my $0.02

Or you could skip the R8/10, keep the GT and pick up an A5 as well :thumbsup

My general feeling as well.

But the way I looked at it the r8/r10 is no different from a tt Porsche or lower entery level Ferrari or Lambo. The majority don't age with grace. There is nothing special about a 10 year old porsche tt or a 355. The 360 is losing value as are gallardos and marcielagos. They all get replaced by the next model year as do corvettes and vipers.

EXACTLY!
When I go into the garage it's like seeing the GT for the first time.
What a masterpiece(s):thumbsup

Then, start it up
Then, open the hood
Then, take it for a drive
Then, wash it. See and feel the quality Etc..Etc..

When you add it up, the Ford GT can't be beat!

Now excuse me, I'm going in to take a cold shower.

True confessions from an OCD auto nut:
I've had the GT for the better part of the year. I still peek in the garage late at night for a quick rush. It IS a treat to uncover it, take it out for a drive, or even just clean her inside and out.
There is no part of her that is not visually and viscerally overwhelming.
Separately, I just spend a day at the Pebble Beach Concours. Hundreds of F-cars, and many others. But when I came across the three parked FGT's, there was no comparison. Cars versus art.
(and I will be posting a picture of the mystery GT...)
