Market softening for FGT?

The recent Mecum auction at Anaheim sold a 2005 Red/white 4 option car with I believe around 2,000 miles (not in their written description of the car) for $270,000 lot S 135.1. Their previous auction in Chicago sold a 2005 Red/white 4 option car with 6,941 miles for $230,000 lot S 177.1. It appears the FGT collector market has stalled at best or is softening. Can we attribute this to the possibility that people are sitting on their money waiting for a chance at a 2017 FGT? Or are people already selling the 05/06 to raise funds for the new FGT, hoping to be able to snag one?

I think its just the seasonal change. People know that the chances of getting one of the new ones is practically nil and that they will come with strings attached (I personally won't tie my capital up in that manner) so I don't think the 2017s will really affect the 2005-2006 market.

That seems like decent money definitely not a cheap price

$270,000 plus 8-10% is about $300,000. Not bad considering a couple of years ago you could pick them up for $150,000 and this one has a few miles on it.

I watched some of the coverage last night and only about 1 out of every 3 car actually sold. The buyers were not opening their check books.

Plus we are going into the winter months the same thing happened last fall. In the spring they will take another jump as they did this year.

I agree with Roketman we should be driving these cars. One of the only cars you can own and drive and not loose any money.

I think that's a great deal of money for a car in the most common color configuration considering all factors.
It could sell for 250 or 300 on any given day.
Basically the difference between wholesale and retail.
"the bid vs the ask"
Or private party sale and getting a good deal vs paying top top dollar.

Remember,..a used 599 is 150k.

Finally got mine out today after laying dormant for a few weeks. Took it to the annual Ferrari Festival. Only American car in a sea of Italians.

Not sure how anyone views a 2k mile red car at $300k and a 7k mile red car at $250k as the market softening.....

We recently saw (until locked) that you can ask $1M for a $200K car.

More telling is that a car with 17K miles needed a $9.5K service.

Have seen dealers asking the moon for a stick 599 and I can't imagine paying 4-6 times going rate for one just because of tranny......
