Jumping Out of Third Gear

Thx for your suggestion. They also agree camera should have been used initially. Where can I get the short throw shifter? Ive seen the postings and wonder does it resolve factory issues ( which apparently I have now ) in addition to the shorter throw? I have a serious need for speed but not one for faster shifts. Planning on this car to be a keeper and may as well do as many improvements now as possible to insure future reliability. Any suggestions very much appreciated.

I can't remember ZRChris's direct webpage, but here is his bay listing. He gives a better price going direct tho;

You CANNOT install the short shift kit until you get the linkage working properly. The cables have to be adjusted first with the OEM shifter in to their accurate settings...and then you can swap out to SS Kit.

I hope it ends up being your linkage, but I doubt that's what it is. We have had this exact same issues with a Trans and we ended up having to replace it. It was on a car that had Super low mileage (less than 500 miles). I am curious to see how your situation turns out. I will cross my fingers for you....

Thanks much

Guys. We just discovers it IS the dang 3rd gear separation that STILLEN experienced and repaired on one of their GTs. My guys crossed up 3rd and 4th and were looking at the wrong gear. Once the transaxle was back in, they watched as the synchronizer turned as was suspicion from the start. FINALLY

The good news is it can be repaired now.

Yes, finally.

THIRD GEAR FAILURE RESOLVED:

Gentlemen, we have been successful at repairing my 3rd gear! After many suggestions, posts and fingers crossed by so many of you here on the Forum, Aaron Scott @ South Georgia Corvette along with some serious advice, guidance and assistance from Kyle Millen @ STILLEN we have successfully repaired my Ricardo. The multi-thousand dollar savings has been transferred into some more worthwhile additions into a new STILLEN clutch and exhaust, Whipple pulley and multiple other upgrades coupled with a final dyno tune by Aaron.

I was extremely dissapointed after the 3rd gear failure at 4,000 miles. To find that Ricardo was aware of the issue during production and to hear from Forum members that a new transaxle was the only way out was disheartening to say the least. Fortunately, I found the right guys that were not afraid to tackle the Ricardo. She was test driven less than an hour ago and is performing flawlessly again.

Have been reading this thread allot and I am very very happy for you!

It all ended up really good and if this will ever happen to any of us then we just have to contact the Guys at STILLEN
