The center console of this Ferrari 550 had an open storage compartment that was very scratched up from the previous owner and would require replacement to fully fix the problem:
I picked up some leather-grained material and super glue, cut out a cardboard template to wrap it around, did some final trimming and it's all done!
The edges flair outwards to fill in the void left around the compartment's curves after the insert has been placed in. It is also rigid enough to be removed for cleaning.
It feels nice, soft, and luxurious to the touch. I needed to use something that added a little depth as the side walls of the same interior compartment were slightly scratched up as well. This adds enough depth to cover up some of the scratches without rising up too high as to diminish the purpose of the compartment.
