Is the GT's Magic Dying?

The GT will bring more joy then the Z06 would have ever brought you anyways! :biggrin

The GT already HAS, 'Storm... a little "fact" that I pointed out to Maxie Price, Jr himself in the certified I sent to HIM (with the same photo Wagner got!). I informed him (among OTHER things :eek ) that I'd taken my GT to an outdoor car show the previous weekend and had (by fate) ended up parked beside - of all things - a yellow, '06 ZO6 ( Santa Clause exists!). I asked Price which car he figured may just as well have stayed HOME that day as far as "attention" was concerned... and gave him the "hint" that it was painted "yellow".

(Would you believe, in that "cover you butt" letter I described before, M.P. had actually had the NERVE to solicit my BUSINESS for an '07 ZO6???!!!!!! Oh, Yeah! Right! Like I'd EVER even CONSIDER dealing with those crooks again! Pahleeeeeeeze! :thumbsdow )

Although Corvettes are like navals (everybody has one) and few people really give 'em more than a quick glance usually, I would have preferred the ZO6 over the GT initially ONLY because there isn't $100K greater performance to be had by buying the GT. MORE, yes. But, not $100K more. (You all know what I mean. The '06 ZO6 is just a "tick" behind the GT in every area.) "Status"(?),for want of a better word, just wasn't what I was after ..."bang for the buck" WAS ( all the "status" in the world & $1.50 will get you a cup of coffee 'most anywhere). In fact, if I could have bought some OTHER car for $20K that could equal the performance of the GT or the ZO6 - I'D HAVE BOUGHT THAT IN A HEARTBEAT! 'STILL WOULD!

But, now that I HAVE the GT? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! :thumbsup
Performance WITH "statooose"? "Priceless"!!!!!! :rofl

Yup. And just like Maxie Price and GM - do you think they even CARE????
("MAXIE Price"! The NAME alone should have sent up enough red flairs to light the universe...)

People like these figure there'll be some OTHER "sucker" who'll walk in the door behind you and buy what YOU didn't. And the sad thing is - for the most part - they're RIGHT. BUT. If the word gets out often enough, and long enough, they WILL be out of business eventually. Nobody in their right mind will knowingly deal with people like that.

It's like I told Wagner, there are too many OTHER performance car makers out there from whom I can buy a car. If GM doesn't need/want/care about my business, or has no interest in putting forth any effort at all to keep my business - there are other companies that DO!

And like I ALSO told th' ol' boy - so far , the indifference GM has shown JUST toward me alone has cost 'em $250K over the past few months. I'm guessing (judging from sales figures) I'm not the only one they've ticked off either.

Detroit can't keep their "big shot", superior, "we're the kings & you're nobody" attitude forever & expect to survive.

I feel bad for the owner of this Z06, but it might make you feel better about having a Ford GT, EP.

I had a similar thing happen to me with my local Porsche dealer (Champion Porsche Audi). I was number one on "the list" for a GT-2 back when they were introduced. I had previously purchased several cars from them. Long story short, the dealer yanked me around and sold my position to some "celeb". After my FU rave with sales man and general manager, I went out and bought a BMW Z8 which at the time were also just announced and very rare. Drove it to their showroom and announced I was done with Porsche. I have not given a Porsche a second look since.

Been there done that with Champion. After buying a 3.6 turbo, then 3.6 turbo S flatnose, 96 993 turbo, 97 993 turbo S from them, they did something very similar to me when the 996 turbo came out. Never again and I'm sure Mr. Maraj really gives a shit...

I had a $1k deposit at Les Stanford on a C6 Z for about a year before the car was shown. Luckily I cancelled it once I saw it (disappointed on the looks) because as it turns out LS had issues with their "list" as well and my allocation would have come long after I got the GT. Such is the problem with such high volume Vette dealers. I bought my previous Z06 for 4k under MSRP and they gave me more than my C5 was worth in trade, but they absolutely couldn't give less of a shit about any one given customer. They can afford it delivering 800+ a year!

Having owned a car like the GT, there's no turning back for me now...

My Gt story is so good (and expensive) a Federal Judge in Akron sealed it and I can't write about it. Lets just say, I wan't going to lay down and pass out the ky jelly.

Well yuh know, SYCO, I really DO appreciate yur effort here :lol , but GT's burn too (we've seen the pics here on the Forum) as do Lambos ( ditto pics) and anything else! But, this REALLY had to suck for this guy, didn't it?????! My aching back. (And I thought the &%$#$%!! rock hit that our brand new, "zero miles" BMW took in the windshied on the way home from the dealer yesterday was bad. WELL HELL! IT WAS!!!!!!!!!!!! ($@*#!@!&!) I'M STILL BOILING OVER IT. 'Just unbelieveable. Just all of a sudden - BAM!!!!!!!! 'Outta nowhere. Out of all the cars on the road and all the windshields to hit...:bang :bang :bang :bang :bang :bang )

And, by the way, my GT made me feel better about "buying my GT" all on it's OWN! It'd need no stinkin' assistance! :lol

I'm afraid there'll be no "steppin' down" fer me either from now on. Once a guy makes the "leap" ...

Sure, just one isolated incident, doesn't mean all Z06's are junk or GT's or Lambo's. Sh*t happens.

That sucks about your windshield. I am a little paranoid about that, but I am afraid to put anything over my windshield in an attempt to protect it, since I am worried about image quality or glare. I haven't looked into the films though with any effort, so I don't know.

Because of that incident, I now more than EVER I'm waiting for those windshield protecters we've ordered here on the Forum to get here for my GT. That thing isn't going to leave the garage again until THAT's on the car. I'd put one on the "Bimmer" ( :thumbsup "sp" Chris?) too, but that's going to be the wife's all weather, everyday car ... and I KNOW one wouldn't last 10 minutes here in the Pacific NW under those conditions.

I don't wanna even dwell on how IRRITATED I am over that hit. Smoke is STILL comin' outta my ears... :mad

As usual, an interesting thread. As of now, it's been almost a year with my GT. Within the first couple of months I stated my intention of keeping this car forever. Like other members of the forum, I had followed the original GT's and then when the new model appeared I knew I had to figure how to get one. Maybe we all need to reflect every now and then.

That said, some other cars in our family have come and gone during the past year (a habit of ours, typically), but the GT is as safe as ever and this next February I'll celebrate a year with a car that will never my garage (except for driving). My "keeper" attitude is as strong as ever. (I'm also pleased with the value these cars are holding out of the chute. This does reflect my original postings, thank goodness.) :wink

Just sold my BOSS 429 to get a GT. I wanted to get a GT before all the near zero mile (less than 3 mile) cars were gone. So no, the magic hasn't died - in my opinion.

Great to hear!

Yes, I waited until I could, and then last month I purchased. I rarely buy a car new, but every now and then something comes along, and I want to buy it new. My first new car that I bought, after many used ones, was a 1997 Roush Stage II Mustang. Obviously, this Ford GT is a whole different league.

Every time I take it out, whether just to get a bite to eat or get gas, it gets a really positive enthusiastic response from people. Such a joy to own.

I just love mine.

Ive had alot of cars,But i just cant get out of it!I just bought another one just to keep but im driveing that one to.

The GT's are very special. Most in here know what I am talking about. The best way I can describe my car to others is "it's the most gratifying vehicle I have ever driven"

I highly doubt I'm alone in the sentiment that I certainly plan on buying another one of these. Maybe it won't be the next car I buy, and it might not be for a couple years, but I plan on keeping #1570 forever and getting it a garage mate. I don't mind buying a used GT, as there will be many low mileage cars in the years to come at what will undoubtedly be bargain prices (anything 100-130k).
