Don't know if this has been discussed, but if anyone can provide any experience or insight, it would be appreciated.

.

I'm not sure about the Invo name, but I'm familiar with Nittos.

I've had a set of Extreme 555's for both my C5 Vette and my 996 Twin Turbo.

My personal opinion, there are great tires, especially for the price. They seemed to be fairly low road noise tires, had good grip, and the price as compared to PS2's, as lease for the TT, were about half the price as I remember.

I didn't think they made them in GT sizes, but if they do, let know, I'll be ready for a set in the near future.

Guys really like them on their Vipers...

Please keep us posted on how you like them!

:cheers

Sam,

Nice link, the marketing is strong on this design. And it appears they have some sizes that could work. Nice canyon clips too, was that on the road to your place?.

I think from the data on the site, they are working hard to please. I think the design is cool and would sure look neat with the Clam up. I also like the side wall. I see these as a possible replacement for the Eagles. Would I buy them as a GT replacement tire ? I might give it a shot.

Performance upgrade?

The threadwear is identical to the Goodyears we have. 220 AA. My experience says that it will not make a significant difference in grip, Compared to the Goodyears. Yes some may put some on and say Wow !. Keep in mind the shelf life of a tire is about 2 years in climate controlled whse set to a specific degree. A new set of Goodyears will feel better than a 2,000 mile set that were installed 3 years ago.

But, in terms of how the tire gives you feedback, feels squishly or sidewall roll over, these may be an improvement, sure looks like they are after this market. A tire can make you faster via confidence alone. Meaning how you lose your grip. And they tout noise reduction, the Goodyears are loud IMO. Rain, well I don't drive mine in the rain.

Traction?

The NT01 or The R2's are the comp tires the Vet and Viper guys run. They are rated at threadwear 100 Temp A. They are exactly what most of us need for a pulley car or stock car in terms of grip and traction IMO. These are excellent. They last about 3,000-5,000 on the street. The Hoosier is one step better yet ...Threadwear 20-50 , but not really a street tire. The R2 you could drive in light rain. The Hoosier, no. Tire noise, not bad on the street IMO. After some track days they will howl until you event he rubber out again. But these are not offered in our Size. I think the R2 is the type of tire Stillen is trying to source.

Good find Sam, I may stick these on something I have.

Thanks Wally. PM Sent..

The Nitto's and Toyo's are made by the same company, and many of the Lotus guys I go to the track with run the Toyo RA1's (100 treadwear) which last forever. I have driven two Lotuses with the RA1's and even though the steering response isn't the greatest, the wear, ability to stay sticky heat cycle after heat cycle, and the breakaway characteristics are excellent. I'm hoping Toyo's new model, the R888 will have better steering response and then they would be my top pick for tries for the GT.

Here's some information on the Toyo's:

I run shaved Toyo RA-1's on my Subaru and really like them. Hopefully the 888's are that much better, un-shaved they would be a great street choice for the GT IMO.

Toyo 888's

The new 888's are now available for Porsche 944 spec racing. They seem to be slightly more sticky than the RA1's they replace. They do not need to be shaved as the RA1's did so a savings there.:biggrin They are more expensive that the RA1's were.:confused No net savings:willy:willy

I don't know what other sizes they may be available in for the GT. IMO they are a good street tire but may not be up to the Michelin or Pirelle tires.
