Chip G., I can tell you from experience does not suffer fools and is a hard task master.
Having represented drivers and teams, if I was starting a team tomorrow, I would look for the following:
1. A winner of one or more races in a top series (winning is hard --experience in running up front and finishing does not come quickly)
2. Someone who can give good feedback during testing. You can have all the PCs in the world but nothing better than driver FB
3.Someone with a solid mechanical background--see 2 above.
4.Someone in good physical shape, and with a huge power of concentration So many lose focus.
5.Someone who treats team, sponsors, owners well. We have fired more than one.
