What impact do you think the introduction of Corvette's "Blue Devil," (rumored to have 680 HP and sell for about 100k and to be sold in 2008) will have on the future value of the GT?

None

Who cares?

A classic today versus a dream car in two years?

I have my dream car now - chip, pulley, exhaust today and I'm still two years ahead with reality and fun!

Why would a future vette devalue the GT when there are already faster/more HP cars out right now?

Makes me wonder what the real objective of this thread is :bored

I'm happy with my GT bought it for what it is, could care less about a corvette

My guess is a severe case of "GT Envy" prompted this stupid question. :cheers

I think the bigger question is how will the McLauren viper ruin the value of that super vette?

The real objective of this thread is to get your opinions about the ability of the GT to hold its value over the long run. I have been watching these cars for some time, and have one in my sights. Naturally, when I hear of a competive car that MAY significantly outperform the GT and sell for 60k less, I have to wonder if it might have an impact on the future value of my car. Nothing sinister, nothing implied, not trying to make a point, just asking for your more informed opinion so that I make a better decision. Honest.

I dont think it will have one bit of impact at all.
While the Z performs better than most, it is not in the same category. If performance is what you are concerned with, you can mod the GT and out perform the Blue devil.
With the Vette, you are paying for the performance only. With the GT, you are paying for a lot more. Just my .02.

Don't worry too much about resale value. Cars like the GT are luxury expenditures, not investments. I assume every car I buy will be worth $0 in the future. Don't worry about the value, just drive it and have some fun.

If you like a Blue Devil buy that too. When the blue devil comes out I may get one for a beater car. Easier to park and visability is better.

Thanks Mark,
I think the GT is going to be a true life time keeper for me (I am 56). I am not wealthy, so I have sold a solid 911 and have some extra money that I can use...still I am very nervous about spending 150 thousand for ANY car. My wife is also raising nine kinds of hell....and so, today I just heard of something called the "Blue Devil" from an engineer here at the Corvette plant, and I see it now openly discussed on the C.Forum. I guess with this post I was looking for cross validity in what I want to do: go ahead and pull the trigger on the GT. The local dealer is down to 155 for a red 2005 (some of the unwanted options of course). So when the new owner of my 911 picks it up on Wed next week, I will go back and put down a check for 153 out the door, and see if he takes it. Any bets? BTW, I reread my post, and I know it looks like I was trying to piss you guys off..but I wasn't.

Thanks

Roger Vincent

No foul Mr.Vincent, hope that dealer grabs your check.

Gt is a blonde, Blue Devil is a red head, I like blondes and red heads...
The car is toy, not an investment.

How about a thread, what impact will the Blue Devil have on the Z06?

Indeed. THAT is the real question.

Roger,
If you are choosing your car based on it's sheer power and nothing else matters.... well - good luck with your Vette.

A corvette is a corvette, a GT is a GT.
If you want fast, you can modify a Mustang or a Honda and go fast.
If you want something unique, a real race car, something rare, the GT fits the bill.

A corvette, any corvette, is NOT an exotic.

I think Chevy should come back with a supercar, not an enhanced Corvette. It's still a corvette, just like the GT500 is still a mustang. I know, I know, many will disagree with me, but that is my opinion. Looks the same, but it's faster. If it looks the same, has the same frame and such....

None. There is always a newer faster car, which a 2900 lb. 600hp Vette will be.

And keep this thread civil, just as a general warning.

I think a problem the the Vette and Porsche, and Mercedes have is distinction among models, The 997 TT, the Z06, and the Blue Devil still resemble their cheaper cousins,

I find it more difficult to get excited about a car, even if it has a performance advantage, if it looks like some thing that sells for much cheaper and is more pedestrian in appearance.

The Blue Devil is an interesting concept. I have owned and loved many Corvettes but have found the styling uninspired since the C4s. The GT has carved out its own legend in that respect. Now, if GM puts a Z06/Blue Devil drivetrain in a C2, lookout!
