I am ready for a pulley but....

Yes. I'm sure when they say 700+ they are talking crank horsepower. The only routes you can go at this time to achieve that power level in "RWHP" are:

1. Pulley/Tune/Exhaust/Small Shot of n20
2. KB snout change/pulley/tune/exhaust
3. Whipple
4. TT

I'm not sure it'd even be real easy with number 2, though I've seen it done with 1,3,4. I know FRPP has had the Whipple unit in hand for over 2 months, but I don't have any update on what they plan to do with it. I'm sure they will offer it at some time in the future...

well for those of us who have inclement weather for a few more months, we can wait at least a few months more to see if/how things develop. Personally I want to increase the HP but I'd rather not void the warranty on the engine if I can help it. Just in case there's a part or two in there that has a small defect which only increasing the stress on the motor will reveal.

And as discussed here before, keeping the car as original as possible with mods done with Ford-authorized pieces will be smarter in the long run. Hell, I'm going to keep the car forever so I am in no hurry. I want to make well-thought out moves based on having all the necessary information.

Don't shoot the messenger!

Why would a HP upgrade kit installed by a Ford dealer be any different than if I had them install catless headers? Plus why would HP upgrades made by a Ford dealer be more taboo than if done by an aftermarket tuner or manufacturer? Please explain why THEY would have to worry about sound limitations - is that a California thing? It would be the car owner's liability not Ford's or the tuners', wouldn't it?

Also, why would the smog numbers be afffected on a HP upgrade? The car should be running more efficiently than stock; for one thing they are set too rich from the factory anyway.
Please elucidate.

Cars have to meet epa-dot specs to be road legal.

End of story. Meanwhile while waiting for the 700hp upgrade from ffrp enjoy your ride safely :-)

Not all of us in the PNW are going to let this inclement weather keep us down. I am taking delivery of my Whipple on Friday and will install it and start the tuning (with Tony's help) this weekend.

I am not as concerned about something going wrong with the motor - especially when you consider what guys like Torrie have done. Over 1000 rwhp with an untouched longblock. I don't know how many runs he has made at that power level but I am guessing it's more than one.

As far as keeping the car as original as possible, there is nothing that I am doing that can't be undone.

It's almost time to fire up the DynoJet!! I plan on starting with the 3.50"(19psi) pulley. After I am satisfied with that, I will change to the 3.25"(21 psi) pulley. From there, who knows.

Red Rocket, when you are ready why don't we arrange for you to come down and put your car on my DynoJet? The price will be right. :biggrin

Great offer - may take you up on that. Puyallup's not too far away. Just need to have the street crews clear away the fallen trees and then wait for the flooding to subside!! I've seen on the news that salmon are swimming in the streets in Washington State, so maybe I should bring my fishing pole too.

I'm not letting it get me down - rains like hell every November here. I am using the off months to do the proper due diligence. As far as the motor goes, every one is different, right? No two are perfectly alike. Any one could go kablammo under higher loads. So being coverd under warranty would be a nice feature if it does happen. I'm not holding my breath obviously.

Still my question stands - you said it "can't be done". I'm just asking why not, when everyone else is doing it.

What can't be done is Ford giving GT owners a warrantee when a dealer installs an upgraded FRPP supercharger. Now a local dealer may still cover you if they install it, but that is between you and the dealer. I am sure if FMC knew the specifics of such a warrantee claim it would be denied.

That would be a step in the right direction. Time will tell. In the meantime, it's blowing 40 knots here and raining cats and dogs. I may to build an ark to get to Puyallup. :wink

Well, at least in Cali, any emissions related items, including superchargers, have to be CARB exempt. If the SC does not have that CARB approval, then it is illegal, period. Any change made by anyone, INCLUDING a dealer, is considered illegal. I highly doubt that Ford Motor company will honor that type of warranty. BMW, Porsche, Mitsubishi, and other companies have flagged cars that have been known to be tracked, and deny their warranty, just for tracking, not even for mods.
That being said, I can't wait to get my Whipple! :banana :banana

The Whipple installation in Awsum's car is drop-dead gorgeous, for sure. And the 750 HP output in Bony's car is awesome indeed. But there's no real chance of having your car taken off the road for having those mods is there? That would never happen around here anyway.

Glad to see we are on the same page!
Good luck with the install!

Thanks! I just hope my numbers - and the end result - are as good as yours.
