Since I have a home there I registered my GT in SC instead of NC where I have another home. The sales tax in Sc in 6% of sale price but caps at $300 :biggrin , in NC the rate is 3% with no max, at 160k in NC it's 4800, in SC 300, yea baby. The proerty tax was about 2k which seems average. Still no bargain. What is it they say, "If you have to ask how much you probably can't afford it".

Here in lovely Scottsdale Arizona the sales tax is 8.1%. That's $13,500.00 in sales tax at MSRP for a GT. First year plates for 12 months are $2850.00 on top of that. That's $16,350.00 in tax & license for your first 12 months of motoring pleasure that will pay for the free healthcare of a dozen illegal mexicans. I just checked and my first renewal for 24 months will be right at $5000.00. Illegals are exempt from all registration requirements and they get in-state tuition at all Arizona Universitys. Rock on 'eh. :bored

Purchase tax, 6% of 90% of MSRP = $8,500, and an annual rate of .01417 of market value for license renewal = $2,000 or so. Or, another way of looking at it, $10,500 for the first year and a half. And this is in Kentucky of all places! Not as bad as some, but worse than most who have posted so far.
Hell, I even had to pay license renewal of $900 for my SPF Cobra replica! Now if I can get $60,000 (their assessment of its value) for that car in today's market, it's gone. (Me and the county clerk got some talkin to do.)
