I like the idea of this product (especially sense I have had fuel injector leaks). I am a bit concerned about the effects of Halon in the engine bay area though.

Does anyone know what would happen (if anything) if Halon entered the combustion camber of the one of the cylinders instead of standard air?

Wouldn't it create a vacuum that would lock up the engine?

... yes I know that it would be better than an engine on fire. I was a little concerned about accidental discharge of the Halon system. It is also good to know what to expect in an emergency situation.

There would be no cause for concern regarding the internals of the engine. First point is that the Halon when it is discharged is a gas. If there was a way for this gas to become ingested by the engine, the gas would simply be compressed by the engine. The worst scenario is that the engine would die (but with no permanent damage from the halon). The second point is that it would likely be difficult for the engine to ingest the Halon because the air-intake for our engines is fed through ducting on the clam shell. The rectangular rubber seals on either side of the airbox seal up against the clam shell - primarily to keep the engine from breathing in much hotter engine-bay air.

Note that almost all forms of racing require/utilize halon systems so it is proven effective technology.

The fact that the GT uses 16 injectors (2 for each cylinder) effectively doubles the potential failure points and it is the main reason that the sensor/sprayers are strategically located immediately above both row of injectors.

Thanks for the information. You know how it is when you get something bad stuck in your head; you need someone to pat you on the back and tell you it's gona be okay.

Also, the charger went in without a hitch. Your instructions are idiot-proof. I need all the help I can get sometimes.

Your instructions are idiot-proof.

I write them to my level and then I know that 99.9% of the population can use them.:willy

Halon gas is a very clean non residue type gas. It is used in large / expensive computer rooms for fire suppression exactly for that reason. If the system were to go off it will not affect open circuit boards or in a cars case alternators, connectors etc..It should not harm any part of the GT. If it were ingested it would kill or reduce the combustion cycle because it displaces the oxygen. But as Kendal stated because of the air intake location ingestion is highly unlikely..
