....ahhh, what's left of a tire?

answer

that was a P315/40ZR19 or whats left of it.
Comming home from the get togeather at paradice cove I had a blow out.
what a pain:thumbsdow
But thanks to bruce he got me a local tow truck and that got me to a tire store.:thumbsup
Now find a tire for a gt on a Sun.
Thats where luck came in, Steve A gave me his old tires last thurs.:thumbsup
So the wife had to drive me up a tire and that part is done.
I did suffer minor paint damage to bear metal but no body work is required so all in all things did work out.

Bummer. Glad things worked out so quickly for you...some people just live right doncha know!

BTW - kinda curious how the tire destroyed itself so quickly

I would like to know also????

...hello Goodyear!? :confused

Todd, sorry about your blow out... wish I could have been there. Had a 3am call but we wrapped at 8am this morning... I came home and slept..
Glad you're OK..:cheers

Thanks Tim:thumbsup
How was the race car shoot:confused:confused ha ha !
hey you are 2 away:biggrin

Dang Todd, if that aint the $#!T$. I guess keeping a spare around is a good thing to do even if it is an old one. Glad it worked out for you without any major damage.

Better get an exorcism Todd.... First the valet, then this. Just can't believe it shredded apart like that.

Hope everything else is OK!

Too many burnouts, eh Todd?:biggrin
Glad you didn't get hurt and are back up and running!

I'm having an issue with one of my rear tires. Looks like a groove half way around in two of the treads. Brought it to Capistrano Ford, After a customer backed into my GT, the service department said it could be an alignment problem. 2300 miles on the tire, 0 on my $200 sideview mirror. I think i'll try switching tires side to side and see what happens.

Looks like wall art to me. :biggrin

Paul, DO NOT EVER switch radial tires side to side. This will result in a reverse in the direction the tire rolls and can cause havoc with the belts which have, after 2,300 miles, taken a "set". This is why even on cars with the same size tires at all four corners, the old X rotation sequence from the days before radials is not recommended. Rather, on these cars tires can be rotated front to back on the SAME SIDE. This of course is not possible in a FGT as the F/R wheel and tire sizes are different.

Todd, I guess there's a natural balance of luck in this world. After our discussion about winning in the Casinos, it sounds like luck seems to balance itself out in other ways. Glad to hear that you are safe.

Todd, here it is buddy..... #700... I made it!! a little post whore'n but not all that bad... I actually had some things to say and didn't post mumbo jumbo...

To the rotation man... You can side to side switch but must remove the tire from the rim and flip it so that the inside wall is now on the outside.. this will keep the tread rotating in the same direction as it was previously....

OK..... Goodbye 700 I'm on my way to 1000....:cheers

Owners manual says every 5000 Mi., side to side no problem?

were tires pressures up to spec? A slow or minimal leak, unnoticed low pressures, can cause high temps, and can cause that.

Hope everything works out ok.

Tire pressure OK, run them at 32lbs., check almost once a week. A friend of mine says this is a common problem on over the road truck tires, it means the tire is no good and is separating. The next step is chunks of rubber coming off from the affected areas.

I think you'll find that if the tires are NOT uni-directional, side to side is OK (same size of tires of course), but really there is no big advantage to this, unless you make more right turns than left turn or visa versa :thumbsup
