In the spirit of not leaving anything alone... here is an attempt to quite it down a little. we have come up with a solution, I still dont know if it will work but it doesnt really matter I just like tinkering with the car, and if it does work you all will definitely hear and see about it, if it doesn't.... well forget everything you see here.

for anyone who has heard my car knows its probably on the louder side of most of the GTs running around, and even though my neighbors are the best neighbors anyone could ask for especially given that most of my cars "make annoying noises" as someone who is not a car guy would say, I still dont want to subject them to periodic annoyance of having a race car shake their house every time I start the car or drive it through the neighborhood. And yes it does shake their house.

so I bought some electric dumps and we have incorporated them into the stainless exhaust on the car, we still have to play around with the size of th e openings in the butterflies, but this is just to muffle the car a little so when I drive through the neighborhood and or start the car its a little more livable.

I thought some of my neighbors were joking when they said ya we can hear you coming from the freeway which is about a mile away from my house until i remembered this vid and realized they weren't!

This thread was good for a morning laugh:)
What system do you have on this GT, soroush?

its a full stainless steel exhaust set up with no cats, straight pipes, but the motor is not stock either, bigger cams, higher compression pistons, and some port work to the heads all add to more air flow and more noise.

That's a proper sounding GT

I thought my GT is loud ... But that Sounds terrific (but also Sick in a nice way). Even if you make it less noisy I would think about some presents for your neighbours, they belong to the good ones ...

At a previous Houston GT get together Soroush left earlier than some of us. As we set talking around our cars you could here him for about 4-5 mins as he left each stop sign and red light. My money is on this one being the loudest car around. The big cams make it sound like a funny car at idle. As for me, I LOVE IT!!!!

I personally don't think it is loud enough...........

Says the man who has a 90 mph GXR GOLF CART that my ears are still ringing because of. LOL

Your car has a great Big Boy Bad Ass sound that most of us would love to try to match. It has a great "Bad Cam rumble sound" as Larry said that I really like that causes it to Lope at low speed. Living in a big city like Houston might seem to cause some worry, in your mind. Hearing you leave after dinner sounded really neat that night. Don't worry about the sound unless your neighbors gather a petition or start shooting at you when you come home. Do like I use to do as a teenager not to wake up my parents while coming home late----shift to neutral and roll into the driveway while idling. ha ha :) :) I love Buddy, keep it up!!!!!!!

thanks guys, I love the lopey cams too, but it really is loud, for car events its great, all car guys appreciate it,(as the people that heard the car pull up in the underground parking lot at the austin rally would attest to, the car literally set off every single alarm in that parking lot) and that was cool at an event like that, but coming home late at night or waking up at 6 in the morning to go to cars and coffee I cant bring my self to wake everybody up in the neighborhood on their day off, so something has to be done. I just hope this works, now to make it easier to work in the garage I installed an AC unit and just got this, now there is no reason not to work!! ok back to work!!

Its funny how my little boss 302 has higher lift cams than the big GT motor though@572

here you go Tommy, since you like big boy badass cams you might like this little Boss 302 she is a screamer revs to 8K all day long out of a 45 year old stang, she took care of a lot of business back in the day. 12 sec quarters in the late 80s when it was build, i bought it 14 years ago and drove the hell out of it. I contemplated selling it because I have not driven it much lately but all I have to do is to start it and any thoughts of selling it soon leaves my mind! This was the inspiration in getting the Gt to sound like the way it does.
