Hi,
What month in 2005, and what VIN number, did the Ford GT base price go from 139,995 to 149,995?

Thanks,
Seth

Model year change from 05 to 06,

The price increase was made July 1, 2005, it was not a model year change. Some 2005's were sold at the increased price. Here's the memo from Ford:

(from the page 2 pdf from my old site, archived here:
http://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1851)

July 1 2005 : MSRP increased $10,000

To: All Ford Dealers

Subject: Ford Division July 1, 2005 Pricing Actions

2005 Model Year Ford GT base vehicle price increases $10,000 MSRP. Price
changes will be effective July 1, 2005. 2005-model Ford GT's invoiced prior to
July 1, 2005 will not be re-invoiced.

This pricing action continues to keep the Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brands
competitive and aggressively positioned versus our key competitors. Please
be sure you communicate these changes within your dealerships. Thank you
for your continued commitment.

Is there any car on the market today with simmilar production numbers as the FGT and is 4 to 5 years old that is still selling for above MSRP ( in most cases ) , just like the FGT is

I cant think of one

The Z8

Maybe what allows the depreciation to be so low is the fact that the GT and the Z8 do not have successors from their manufacturers.

Probably if Ferrari hadn't made a 430 and 458, the 360 would be valued a lot higher now.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Carrera GT prices if that new Porsche supercar goes into production.

Punch has it right. My car was ordered April '05, built in June '05 and did not suffer the $10K increase even though I did not take delivery until December '05.

My 05 Gt ends with the last four of the vin as 1599. How close was it to the new priced car? I don't know the build date for sure.

Dealer invoice was ~$128K

Guarantee that's what it is. If they had gotten approval to build a Mk II, the GT would be alot cheaper. I don't think it would be anywhere near Gallardo or 360 cheap, but still cheaper. We have a lot of "hoarders" here just because they can't get another. At this point, the earliest you'd see a new Ford supercar is 2014 and that's highly unlikely, so with 10 years separation minimum, the GT should do well far into the future.

Carrera GT had a big drop for awhile but are now on the way back up. If you look at an N/A V-10 wildman of a car that is retailing used around $350-375k (off from lows in the very low 300's) vs an electrically supplemented next gen car many years later at possibly €500k, I don't think CGT's will be dropping much.

The 360-458, Gallardo and many others used gimick styling cues, which at their time seemed fresh/clean sheet with sharp creases, winglets...that became artifice.

There are a handful of classic design cues that are timeless: deep-inset grill opening, raked rear glass, fastback, duck tail, wheel haunches that just are hot.

If Lambo went with that new-retro Miura, they would hold value.

......don't forget the 'Classic' Coke Bottle design cues

I love that car.

Lambo are idiots for not making that car.

The original looks pretty good, too- here's a recent shot by my photog buddy Dave Wendt.
