Hi All, Great Forum with great subtle humor! Now that I'm a proud owner of a Red '05, I'd like to get a model for my desk. I would appreciate any input on which model GT and or manufacturer any of you think are the best quality. Thanks, JimmyK

Check out http://www.aa-collection.com/cgi-bin/autoartshopping/

They've got several good ones if you search "Ford GT".

Congratulations and welcome! Bony has the best models...but if you leave them laying around, they get pregnant. :biggrin :cheers

Mmmmm...but the bodywork and paint jobs are a sight to behold :lol !!

Plenty of upgrades available too...:wink

I've got the AutoArt 1:18 Ford GT and it's O.K. However, nothing that I've seen compares with the 1:12 GMP Ford GT40 models. I've got the Gulf colors edition (no longer made) and the detail is remarkable. However, need a pretty big desk.

Yat ming on ebay ar like $7, business card size

In 1:18 scale, the AutoArt is by far the best choice, and since you need a red one, you're in luck. They only offer it in red with white stripes, or yellow with black stripes. Beanstalk offers white with blue stripes, silver with black stripes, and black with white stripes, but the detail is a step or two below AutoArt. AFAIK, no one offers a model without stripes, and no one offers a version with the optional BBS wheels.
The 1:10 scale GMPs are the most detailed models available, but they only do the GT 40s, no modern Ford GTs. I've got their 66 winner and a 67, and they're both beautiful.
If your car's pimped out with 24" rear wheels & 20" fronts, Jada makes a pretty good representation in 1:24 scale, available in 4 or 5 colors.
Model collecting is one of my passions, and between the 1964 through 1969 GT 40s, and the 2005-6 GTs, I've got about 60 models, which includes around 12 in 1:64.

In Red/White, I have the

AutoArt, 1/18
Kyosho, 1/24
New Ray Toys, 1/32
KiNSMART, 1/36

The AutoArt offers the best detail of the 4, with the KiNSMART 2nd, New Ray Toys 3rd, and the Kyosho last (no engine under its back window :ack).

I have yet to find any with the optional BBS wheels.

Minichamps makes a real nice 1:43 diecast with the optional BBS wheels

They also make a 2004 Concept version with an accurate representation of the Concept wheels and paint. There wasn't one on Ebay today, though they come up often.

Thanks King, bought a red and white one.
