Yellow engine light is on so I did a scan and got a code of PO442 "EVAP Emission Control Sytem Leak (small)"
Is this my darn gas scap again??

Yep. :ack

Yes, Scooter - but don't panic yet. We've had cars come into the shop with this error code. Have a look at the horizontally sliding seal where you put the gas nozzle in. Operate the slide with your finger and make sure it is closed and that there is no small piece of debris preventing it from closing. Reset the code and cross your fingers!

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing so I reset the code and checked/pushed on the flapper...looked ok. I was thinking the flapper had some debri but it looked ok. Does the slider help seal in the air also?

That's the code you will receive if the flapper is not closed all of the way.

Plates now expired. IL will not send sticker due to failed emission test..This is still a problem..flapper looks OK.

Register your car outside of Chicago area. Only counties requiring smogging are around Chicago and St. Louis.

Scooter, PLEASE be careful, I must have been the first owner that the filler pipe was replaced.
If you fill your tank with gas the evap cycle will not run till 1 quarter of fuel is gone. Once the cycle starts it will read everything going on. If your filler pipeflaps are broker or the springs on the flaps got weak, your car WILL STALL!.
It happened to many of us and is very dangerous.
Run the tank down see what your idle does, if you start getting a very fluctuating rpm at idle, The pipe has to be replaced. The new pipe is much much stronger interms of flaps and springs.
Please take caution on this one.
Good luck.
P.S. If you need the pipe, many have posted the procedure, get a lot of blue tape ready.....this is a big safety issue.

A few years back I actually pulled the original filler and repaired it myself I didn't want to purchase a new one because it was identical to the one I repaired..are you saying they redesigned it?
I do remember the stalling before I repaired it years ago but now with flapper correctly in place and the code popping up I do not have any RPM fluctuation it runs fine.

Went to my first cruise night this year and ran into a red FGT parked next to me..amazing the amount of people interested in the machine. A few times I could have taken a picture and you wouldn't even see the car just the crowd.
