garage outfitting
I can tell you guys about a couple things that worked good in my garage....and a couple that didn't. I had a cathedral ceiling put in the third bay, and, at the same time, added extra outlets and air lines throughout the garage. Installed 2'x4' recessed flourescent light fixtures (4 bulbs each) - they really light the place up.
I installed my compressor in the shed behind the garage - I can hardly hear it run (dug a trench and buried both the air line and 220 line).
We seem to have a lot of power failures around here, so I thought a skylight would be nice for finding my way around in the garage if the power went out (in the daytime, anyway). What looks like another flourescent fixture in the upper right of this picture is actually a 2'x4' skylight...
...that didn't work out so well....the skylight, "guaranteed not to leak" seems to leak sometimes, and, worse than that, every flying insect that ever gets into my garage flys up there, gets heat exhaustion, dies, and ends up on the hood of my car....I don't even have to DRIVE them to get bug mess all over them!
The lift, of course, is one of the best tools I ever bought - makes it easy to detail the undercarriage, polish wheels, and stack cars - a great investment.
The ceiling fan seems to help circulate air in the garage, but makes me nervous when I stack a second car on top - I think I'd forego it next time, unless I had lots of headroom above the lift.
regards,
Jeff
