Well all I know is that the part number was a good one and that the piece arrived at the dealership this morning and is presently out for delivery to me at this time.

Once received a picture will be posted.

Got it Fred. Thanks Buddy! Looks like this is one of those "take the fender off" deals. How would you tell if it's missing? Need to look it up in the Tech Manual. Seems to me if it was missing, your fuel tube would rattle.

A quicker solution; I just drilled 6 1/4 inch holes through the perimeter of the fuel cap ring and fender. Drains right out!

Maybe not. Awaiting picture. Thank you.

Alright folks; even though The GT Guys told me what they expected it to be I still ordered one in to see for myself.

It is a foam perimter seal that goes under the fender and has nothing to do with the sealing of the fuel door.

So if you need or want one I have it on my shelf now; LOL

All the best

Is it even possible to make an effective gasket 360 deg. around the 'filler door? I don't see how one could be made that'd effectively seal around the hinge area at all.

Sure, a circular seal could be positioned inside the hidge, concentric to a circle that would overlay the hinge.

Take a look at your 'filler door's hinge again when you get the chance, Joe. There doesn't appear to be any way to do that (overlay the hinge) effectively.:shrug 'Looks like water has a path thru there no matter what's done - unless the hinge itself is reconfigured in some way.

'Beats the heck outta me ...but then, most things DO...

Thanks for the post Shadowman. That was very helpful. As for water getting into my gas tank, the only way that'll ever happen is through condensation....

That gasket is for under the fender, with the cap the way it is and the hinge , i thought there is a drain tube under the fender for water back up? anywho hope it helps but how can you shut the cap with that thing, it definitley wasnt a mistake that they left it off...gtjoey 1314:thumbsup
