How hard is it to adjust the locking mechanism on the front boot cover? I shut it, and it seems to latch (won't open when i pull on it), but then a few hardruns later on the gas pedal, and it ends up being un latched.

When i shut it, I push down in the center of the hood, directly opposite the metal latch.

Easy to adjust. Just two bolts if I remember correctly. Just pull out the trunk liner and it's all visible there on the back wall. Why are you opening it with the latch and not using the key fob?

Guilty, too!

What else will the fob do?

Actually three bolts Doc....

BTW - Exotic care make a key fob with the "silence" wife button....... I keep wearing out the batteries though

Also check the little wiper fluid hose that its not over lapping the trunk liner.....gtjoey1314

My latch mechanism went bad and the door ajar light would not go out. Eventually was replaced by the Gt guys. As a note when it finally went and could not be repaired it affected the wipers, so that if the latch does not work properly, your wipers will only work on the rapid speed. No slow or intermittent function. Found this out during the monsoon at rally 5. Fortunately, I had got a hold of Rich before they left Michigan and they had one trunk latch left.

I'm not sure how you are able to infer how i open my boot cover from the problem i described. The front hood opens on its own about every 100 miles. I then shut it firmly, pressing down on the center directly on top of the center bolt/latch system that holds it closed.

You used the word "latch." This implies you're using the latch pull on the side of the car and not the button on the remote. You might be surprised how many people bought cars and didn't realize they had a remote button on the fob; or, that they have a little stowage net on the front of both seats.

Make sure when you your adjustment that you test the closure mechanism to be sure that it it functioning (remaining in the locked position) when you deploy the "open-close" funtion. Do your opening and closing manually with your key and side lever, not the key fob.

Do you have the stock FOB or an after market key FOB (Exoticare's pop up blade key) ?

My latch would open everytime I go over a small bump or drive over road irregularity, what a pain to have to stop and re-close a few time during a trip. I thought the front latch mechanism needed adjustments. It turns out the blade key is so sensitive, it would activate with car vibration and open the hood on its own (I felt like Linda Blair is riding with me:biggrin). I love the look of the key but it's part of the F-GT memorabilia now, not to hijack this thread, but I wish Andrew can come up with a re-vised keyfob version with better functionality as it beats the heck out of the Ford Focus look alike F-GT key :lol.

hmm I'll temporarily switch to the stock keyfob. Yes i've been using the exoticare blade.

Tim, from your post, it sounds like after i physically push down and close the front hatch, i need to do something with the keyhole/handle on the driver's side of the vehicle to ensure it is locking? What i've been doing is pushing down (on the center of the front hatch diretly opposite the steel U shaped locking mechanism). Then i try to pull up the front hatch, to ensure it is locked, which it always is.

I actually DID consider the exoticare remote as a potential source... i thought maybe i was hitting the front hatch release button when i unlocked the car. I didn't realize it could activate AFTER i have the car on just by driving over a bump! If that IS the case, then I'm inclined to shelve my aftermarket remote.

Hi,
Your front latch problem sounds like it is definitely the Exotocare key from Andrew. I had the exact front latch problem when I started using Andrew's key. I spoke to Andrew, and he told me how to disconnect the pins, to deactivate the key fob trunk and alarm buttons. My alarm would go off, when Andrew's key was in my pocket, and I was within a few feet of the car. Since pins disconnected, I use his key all the time to open and lock doors, and start car. I open the front trunk, and gas filler with the key manually. Never have had the problem again.

that's right DUHHHHH (homer moment).... I actually did have the same problem with the trunk.... ended up disconnecting the trunk button on the exoticare key.
