Here is a great article published in Hemmings.

I really like the top notch concept. Not bad for 5 days after the Bicentennial of America. The door handles, the rear, exhaust, just cool and tidy (note, Im partial to foxbody Mustangs). Boy did they glaze over how close the Probe was to being the next Mustang.....

That just reminds me, I should have kept my '87 T-Top 5.0.
I ordered it when the rumors were floating around about the change.
Thoought it might have been that last of the breed.

An little known fact, there are a few 88 t-tops. Not many, but a few. For probably 20 years, if saw a T-top, non 4-eye, boom, 87.... I was wrong.

Yep, mine was ordered in Feb and built in Aug.

I had a friend that had ordered an '87 T-Top and '87 production quit before his was built.
As a result, they honored his order and built him an '88 T-Top.

The more I talk about it the more I kick myself.

Here's a pic right after I bought it.
Actually a phone pic of the photograph in our album. (before digital cameras were common place)
I took the LX seats out a short time later and stored them after putting '86 GT seats in it.
I put them back in a number of years later when I sold it.
They were in new condition.

Here are the pictures of my 1986 Fox GT from a photo shoot that was done by Mustang Monthly back in 2001. Bought it new, still have it, has about 45,000 miles on it.

Julie and I had a string of Fox body Mustangs early in our marriage. I kick myself for not buying my father-in-laws 1993 Cobra.

Yeah, I’m not sure what Ford was thinking when it was considering replacing the Mustang with the Probe. First, it was a front wheel drive joint project with Mazda. Second, I don’t know how that name made it through marketing. “Hey, let’s name the Japanese replacement of our American heritage car after something you stick in an orifice.” Maybe it was brilliant irony.

What an astute analogy!

What an astute analogy!
On the subject of ''what were they thinking when they named this one''. how about the motorhome model named ''the Intruder''. Sounds like the Griswolds are coming.

I didn’t know Don Johnson owned a fox body Mustang. Interesting.

Wow, another installment, when a zero to 60 was in the sixes, and quarters in the 15's. And as "Apollo" shows, there was more hair, and worn differently (great SVO BTW).

Yep! My two favorite cars. My 06 Ford GT and my 93 triple black 5 speed convertible.
