It seems that the white collar workers get a worst deal the the UAW members. A layoff UAW members gets the job bank and non-UAW member gets a box and small severance package.

Sad happenings in the US auto industry.

A sad day and with this crazy oil market, it will effect everything we come in contact with. God Bless Ford Motor Company and lets hope they turn this around. I have an 05 Mustang GT with 25K miles on it and I can't get an interested buyer, despite advertising in several Internet car sites and print media.

Sad Day

Not all is completely bleak - Kervorkian, er, a, I mean, Kerkorian still honors the $8.50/share tender offer.

Hopefully, the Ford announcement about the delay in return to profitability (which triggered the fall in price) wasn't their best strategy to disable K's tender offer. 'Cause it backfired - he still wants 'em at $8.50!

With the economic conditions as they are today, considering the price of oil and gasoline at the pump Ford is taking the lead and further reducing their overhead and expenses and GETTING BACK TO THE BASICS IN ORDER TO SURVIVE IN THE FUTURE. I personally wish they had reacted sooner. Thats my 2 cents worth. I'm pulling for FORD! Tomy

Sad.

US Car companies need to reduce # of lines and brands.

Leave entry level market for Korean, Indian, Chinese makers and focus on Higher Margin products: World Car (ie, Ford Euro clones), F series, marquis models, and reduce dealer footprint.
