THAT THING IS K-O-O-L!!!!!! I'd like to see the Barnum & Bailey rattle can red 'squirt-ons' toned down a bit though. The black on RED (orange?) is just F-I-N-E the way it is!

I LOVE that adjustable (adjustable LOOKING anyway) front spoiler! 'Looks similar to the one the concept Viper coupe had a couple years back.

('Interesting that G.M. actually IS going to bring the Z/28 back at about the same time...reportedly with 556 H.P.)

I received my newsletter via email from Ford Racing this morning:

It's Official: The Boss 302 is Back!
Ford gave the green light only once before: In 1968, management approved a special Mustang – a car that sacrificed nothing in its quest to be the best all-around road-going performance machine ever created by Ford Motor Company. That car became the 1969 Mustang Boss 302, and it remains one of the world’s most sought-after examples of American performance. Forty-two years later, Ford has given the green light again. The Boss 302 is back! Read all the glorious details here. Click here to see the video that served as the preview to today's big reveal of the Boss 302.

Love the car, cannot tolerate the cheeseball graphics package.

440 hp, 380 lb/ft from a N/A 5.0 though, faster than an M3 around Laguna....excellent.

Like the 1969 B-2 stripe, but drop the wheels (where's a modern version {read size} magnum 500?). 7500 revs? Pretty nice. Just needs a 2012 version of the CrossBoss and she's ready to go!

I was there today and EP, you are right. That Laguna Seca option has some great features, but the black and red just did not do it. Perhaps if they had put the black wheels on it that they showed on the blue/white and orange/black versions it would look better. Those red wheels looked, well, let's just say, feminine.
Saw Parnelli there when I was taking a bunch of picks. Reading all the details with the suspension, exhaust and engine, FORD nailed this one like they did the first time around. I got so fired up I'm gonna go get my 70 BOSS 302 in the morning and take it for a spin!

Agree 100% The graphics just don't do it...That said I really want the Laguna Seca version! Anyone (DBK) know if the graphics will be vinyl or paint?

Needs a shaker hood scoop and a silver version of the "minilite" wheels, even if only for the street versions.

IMHO.

If you can get the LS version without the graphics I'm seriously considering buying one and leaving it at MMP. I'm hopeful we can get one of these out at VIR to compare it with GT500 lap times.

Awesome news. Sounds like it will be an animal on a road course. Something else to add to the wish list.

Dave,

Perhaps I'm just a 1969 relic, but I love the graphics on the new Boss 302. And I would much rather flog one of those on the track than my GT. I like the idea of leaving it at MMP too, at least part of the time. Two questions.

1. Is pricing info out?
2. When does it go on sale?

I have merged the two Boss 302 threads.

Someone educate me please. In the 60s Muscle Car Mania allowed automobile manufacturers to make every conceivable combination and specialty packaging - they sold all of them. In today's economic climate however why would Ford create an eroding strategy for the GT500? Is the Boss 302 positioned somewhere between the Mustang GT and the GT500?

On a side note, when will the rear fascia get redesigned?

Would love to see the comparison between the LS and GT500. The graphics and wheels would be a relatively inexpensive fix all in all considering what a nice mechanical piece it is.

You're right a great alternative to flogging the GT and if you bin it fewer tears.

I read 36 for the base Boss and 40k ballpark for the LS.

I'm with Chip on the graphics . My Dad and I are hanging out today and when I showed him this tread, he said " Where's my check book son, let's go for a sunday drive" to the Ford dealer.
Is this cool or what, history is repeating and its all good this time. Could there be a BOSS 9 in the works???
