The car sold for 152.5 At least we know the rebuilder is reputable.

Thanks Rocketman! The car showed up today and I couldn't have been happier, no signs of frame damage, suspension damage or any mechanical damage, all cosmetic! I will post photos tomorrow. The car has a lot of aftermarket parts too! Think I have a buyer lined up already, he bought a non salvage from me last year and has been looking for a second one!

So based on this, what's a high mileage (> 50k miles) clean title well taken care of GT worth? So Jeff has over 100k on his car and it has to be worth more than a salvage 5K mile car...correct?
I got called on a 50k mile car 10 months ago, I paid 125k for it which was less than a salvage car at the time I sold it to another dealer for 145k and he sold it for what I thought was unbelievable for a high mileage car 165k which is still below any salvage 5k mile car. I would bet $ I can get more out of any 5k mile salvage car than anyone can get for a 50,000 mile car I don't care who's owned it and how many service records it has. :)
 
Really? Personally, I would pay more for the 50k mile car, every time. I probably wouldn't even be interested in a salvage-title car. But I wouldn't be afraid of a car with high miles, especially if I planned to buy it to drive, anyway.

Well in nearly the same week that I paid 125k for a 50,000 mile gt I paid 138k for a Salvage 2800 mile gt. different strokes for different folks, can't tell you how many times in the past that a buyer wanted a no stories non modded car, supply him with such and as quick as he wires the money he wires another 20k for mods...crazy but true. :)
 
I think many on here would gladly pay 125K for a clean title 50k mile car instead of a salvage car. Anyone else on here give a reason why they would pay for a low mileage salvage car before a high mileage clean car?
 
I still can't believe the car was totaled if it is in such good shape.

I knew after looking at that car that someone one was going to get a deal. Most of the dis-assembly work was already done. Good pick up my friend.
 
In 20 years people wont be saying I won't own a salvage titled GT, they will be thankful buying what is available to them... FACT!

It's like the Enzo wrecked that just sold for 780k with fees. That car a year ago was 1.2 mil mint no stories. 2.3 mil now.

People can hate on salvage cars all they want but fact is there will come a day when a salvage title/ rebuilt car is all that is affordable or available to some.
 
I wouldn't call it hating. Depends completely on the circumstance. Some people just aren't interested in assuming the risk. I've seen some very lightly hit GTs that have made it back on the road as salvage title cars, and I've seen some GTs involved in high speed rollovers/very hard, extrusion-busting hits that have done the same. Depending on what got hurt, who fixed it, etc, that's a lot of risk to assume. GT is also high enough volume in my opinion that it's unlikely to obtain "as long as there is a VIN plate left" status.

I'd buy a well repaired salvage car but I'm just shocked that they would sell for more than a clean car even with "high miles".

That car a few months back on eBay with a certificate of destruction went for $130k or so.

With parts prices these days it doesn't take much for a car to get "totaled" and become salvage. So you'd want to see evidence of the damage BEFORE and repairs AFTER to assess frame damage that might have been repaired, and to see whta components were repaired vs. replaced.

Thanks Buddy! I took a load of photos and all I found was a cracked in the right front knuckle. I'll post a link to the cars photos with it on lift shortly, all the parts were ordered that I didn't have in stock and car should be done in 14 days.

Just curious if you are going to repair the bent alloy panels or replace them. If repair will you bend what you can or heat and reshape?

We are replacing the fender and the door and rear bonnet will be repaired with an aluminum stud gun in which they weld studs to the dented area and pop the dent out with a slide hammer. I will post picks later in the week of the progress.
 
Was that high dollar radar detector still in it when you got it?
I'll bet you wore out a pair of cutting pliers cutting all those tie straps holding the car together. lol

I will be honest....I eyeballed the crap out of that thing soon as it showed up and talked myself out of removing it due to the fact that the last one I thought I would take out was a nightmare...LOL Was this your old car!?
 
Not my car. I just noticed the radar detector while looking it over. The head lights were just laying in a pile with the rest of the parts. When I explained what they cost to replace, the guy just shrugged. The great unwashed I guess.
Whoever had it before must of owned stock in a tie strap company tho.
Can't wait to see it all fixed up. Will make a real nice driver. As they all should be IMHO.
