Ford GT Info


I'm hurt and feel disenfranchised. Formally excluded wothout benefit of counsel, what kind of country are we living in??

3,900# for the hybrid version, with 250kWh battery and no fuel.

I think this came up before in another thread.:biggrin I really feel it will come in between 2700 and 2800... so I'll say 2750. :wink

What about hurricane season?

Get it here 12 hours before the hurricane hits and it will outrun it...done.
 
I was told considerably lighter than a 675LT coupe which runs dry at 2710 and with a full tank of fuel and fluids at 2920lbs. My guess is 2600 dry and 2820lbs fully fueled.
 
Just a reminder- "curb weight" includes weight with all fluids. A Ford Focus has a curb weight of 3,055. I hope you folks guessing in the 2600-2800 lb range are right; that would be incredible!

yup, My bet is the NFGT will be between 2700 and 2800, wet as they say. She's going to be a lean, mean, exotic whipping machine!:thumbsup

I would guess 3000 - 3100 pounds, my McLaren 12C was 3,115..... just give us 660+ hp....
 
Any weight that starts with a 2 and a 9 will be a superb result for a street car, and horsepower has to start at least with a 6 and a 5

I've seen a couple of posts with cars in the mid to high 2900# posting weights. Depends on the option lists. Lightest total combination was what I listed from the McLaren site. You don't think they ever embellish do you [emoji3]?
 
I wanted to the first to compare the two (LT vs FGT), but I'm afraid DBK is going to beat me to it.

Cars always wind up weighing considerably more in their US-Spec version than they do over in Europe, unfortunately.
 
While it's true that we get extra equipment, I believe the major weight difference is the result of the accuracy of USA scales relative to the fanciful Euro scales.
 
There was talk months ago about problems with the car meeting the NHTSA side impact requirements. If true, adding 50-100 lb. of structure could be possible. I'm going to guess 3085 lb wet, no options except CF wheels (the lightest possible config.).

The NFGT technical information drought is killing me. I've been trying to piece together bits of information to satisfy my curiosity.

Brian Willis, an engineer with time at Multimatic, posted some information about the NFGT on FChat. A couple of his posts are below:

"Where the Ford Gt is really unique is in the overall architecture and design of the chassis and suspension, etc.

Take the body off the car and the rolling chassis looks just like a current LMP car. It has race style pushrod front suspension using co-axial torsion bars. Same as on rear. First time ever done on a street car.

Suspension kinematics are all biased towards performance, etc. NVH was a secondary concern.

The street car has a "zero" keel front chassis structure-just like an F1 car. And has a raised nose like an F1 car. Again-all never before done on a street car.

There is a bunch more. Big thing to note is that this car is closer to a race car than any street car ever made. The difference between the street Ford GT and the race car is pretty small.

The idea of this car is and was a no compromise performance car-based on feel and response-not on performance numbers.

It will be a very cool car to own. Especially if you like engineering porn! This car is stuffed with it everwhere.

Nobody has done on a,street car the suspension package that is on the Ford. It is the way it is,done on a F1 or LMP car.

Just new to street cars thats all.

And nobody has a front aero pakage on a street car like the Ford."

The "raised nose" and "zero keel front chassis structure" is apparent in the picture below (note the clearance visible through the left front wheel duct).

What is apparent is that the car has a very high compliment of racing hardware. Race car for the street? Doesn't seem to be marketing hyperbole in this case.
