Ford GT: Development

I am so happy to be one of the first 10 to get the street version... This car is BADASS. It's funny to hear my Ferrari friends that have kidded me about my 05 GT... they all want the NGT!

Did they have the lottery already and i missed it ? According to the info i am in the running for a NFT also. Maybe not the first 10 but on the list.

Relax, no lottery yet.

You (and many others) are on "the list".

You can be assured that some are already spoken for.

After that, who knows.

BTW, interesting profile pic.

Flat plane crank gives off a distinctive sound doesn't it

I'm still biased, I would have loved to see a V8 but I understand and respect why Ford went this direction.

But man... I'll miss this sound at Le Mans:

The Ecoboost uses a cross plane crank.

For the moment. ;-))

Interesting comment. I had wondered if they'd evolve to this. A flat plane crank would lower crank rotational mass =faster revving motor and faster turbo spool up, seems like a natural fit for the car !! Now we're talking !!

But to leverage that engine in the marketplace, you'd need to a suitable 'street' candidate. Just for fun, what vehicle (other than a GT) would you see as a potential candidate for a 3.5L FPC EcoBoost? :biggrin

Ok .. I'm going to play along. I'm going to guess some type of Focus or Fiesta hot hatch...

V6 sounds awesome! sounds somewhere b/n V8 and V12!
Can't get over those crazy wings with the intercoolers!
Makes my blood boil!!

This was just a hypothetical exercise, but a 3.5L V6 won't package into a small B or C platform car like Focus.

I don't think a FPC V6 was ever made (Edit: by ANYONE) due to the engine's firing order and the corresponding horrible imbalance that architecture would produce.

Challenge probably isn't a big enough word. But if it were possible, it would likely have BABS (Big a$$ balance shafts) and have a different angle V6, which affects packaging.

I thought you had some inside information. At this point it sounds like the race motor they have is very tried and true

I can't see how you can have a flat plane crank on a V6.

needs a little more wing. lol

The car looks amazing and I am sure the performance will be unbelievable. That being said I am not at all a fan of the exhaust sound.

WOW and WOW! Thanks DBK
