Ford Gt Crash!!! The Car Is An Amazing Testament To Engineering!

Looks like Rocksman's GT is back on the market w/a Salvage Title:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006...130214189QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260130214189

Ebay price at 125k and still not at reserve.

According to the Seller:
"I purchased this car at an insurance auction with $11,000 in parts replacements and 4k in labor. The car was repaired to perfection, was realigned and drives great. CAR HAS HAD NO FRAME DAMAGE. The previous owner hit a pot hole in the road that he could not avoid causing damage to the belly pans and a couple of rims and a tire, ect."

Just a pothole? Rims & tires only....? :confused :bs

yeah, some pothole... a little Meguairs Quick Detail Spray and twisting of the English language and he is back on the road...:bs :bs :bs :bs

Ok Bony we need a forum thats called

KNOWN TOTALED GT'S

Even if it doesn't allow comments it should allow people to put pictures of the car with the VIN so people can at least see. This has me worried as hell that if I ever look for another car no telling how its been washed and might have a clean title...and we know CarFax doesn't catch everything.

Rick,

I don't think this one on Ebay is Rocksman's GT; his was a "no stripe" car.

Looks good in the pics, but with a "salvage title" I'll pass at that price.

Matt, I've tried to keep a list of cars w/ salvaged titles that were either talked about on this forum, or found on ebay. I would also like to see a dedicated section on the forum for information on these cars. David

Just noticing the "fine Work" (NOT) of the person that repaired it. If you look at the 6th photo down you will see that the rear diffuser has not been installed properly. It looks a little off on the right side.

If these are the pictures of the car that are not showing the flaws then I wonder what the car really looks like.

Seller states this is his 2nd GT sale, and he has several others he will be selling at 1-2 per month :frown

This is the same guy I posted a warning about a couple of months ago. He has a body shop that is buying totaled GTs and rebuilding them. He claims very minor damage on his cars but doesn't explain why they are totaled.

Naturally, they are "perfect" when he gets done with them.

As I said before...Caveat Emptor!

left front fender does'nt fit headlight.
05 # 612 was a wreck, now a race car, just to add to your list of wrecks
:cheers

Man, that left front fender looks way off. Not only doesn't fit the headlight but there's a huge gap between it and the front hood. Yikes!

also look at the shot from the rear of the hood foward the radiator grill is way off also.:thumbsdow

You listed options are all very cool;

R8....... should be a well balanced fun gal to drive.

Gallardo...... they are nice..... a very in your face gal but also rather sedate when it comes to driver feed back. More of a "look at me cruiser" when comopared to the GT. Certainly the GT has the "look at me" factor however it also has the performance to back up the looks.

Porsche Turbo; a true full featured daily driver performance car with very low service concerns

Aston Martin; stunning to look at and a great highway gal but a bit large and heavy for tossing around

The GT...... a true race car moderatley tweaked so as to be allowed on the public roads.

I would say that each of these on your list are very different as such I vote for one of each.

Just my thoughts and yet through it all the fact that you are alright and presently considering your options is the greatest blessing that you shared

Takes care

Shadowman

Shadowman, as always you've provided a damn good analysis.

For the R8, I'd probably wait and get on the list for the 500+ (550 ?) HP model to follow - or possibly pick up one now but get on the list for its more powerful brother to be coming later.

For the Aston Martin, I'd probably wait for the DBS, due to come out late this year or early next.

And of course the GT, which I would replace and get one back in the garage.

All sound like fun! I agree with Shadowman - one of each!

I see there's no "Heritage" cars on the list, that's why I opted to put an "S" on my car instead of a number.

According to the Registry, Rocksman's VIN was #1013.
So the Vin's appear to match.
And the story about the pothole seems to fit (albeit much exaggerated).
I assume they added stripes during the re-construct.

Wow they did a pretty good job if thats my old car. Yeah it was a big pot hole I would say.

BTW Im driving a Porsche 997 Twin Turbo now. Great car also, only the GT would outhandle and perform it.... but not when Im done making her *special*

:cheers

I am a fan of emailing the winningbpidder the crash pics....happens on other collectible auctions all the time.

Ebay views this as interference, but when you file a loss claim with them then they view their ignoring you as normal!

watch out for those pot holes..
if you buy a GT without a ppi you are entittled to get what you get...

A little buffing compound will get her looking new again!!:thumbsup

What he said in the eBay auction:
The previous owner hit a pot hole in the road that he could not avoid causing damage to the belly pans and a couple of rims and a tire, ect.
etc... etc... :rofl
