Ford GT Bare Carbon Wheel Debuts

Here are pics of both finishes...

Now the real question is how much will this option cost? I'd guess $20K

Guess I'm old school - I need a little bit of bling on a car .... just not into CF wheels.

Those are all of the gloss finish. Ford didn't put out any photos with the matte finish.

The 2 up close shots of the lugs/spokes are matte finish...

The last picture shown in the article is a matte finish -

the last photo almost looks like it's painted??

Are there photos of the optional matt CF wheels? I think they would look cool also.

The main thread on the CF wheels is in the Front Page News section. Why do we have two simultaneous threads on the same subject?

The below is correct.

Those two images are matte. All other images are of the gloss finish.

I love the matte CF! Match it to the matte CF trim!

First order of business.

Gentlemen,

I obviously don't have any experience with such a wheel but it would seem that the inevitable stone chips would be less noticeable on a matte finished CF wheel than on a gloss finished unit. Same goes for the trim, especially around the grill area that will get a lot of hits, especially here in AZ. This is a great thing to concern myself with this morning. Cosmetic durability of a finish I haven't seen on a car I don't own (yet). :willy :willy :willy

yes but guessing you could have the CF parts and front of the car wrapped with the Xpel protective coating or something similar... not sure about the wheels though? I have the matte finish on one of my current cars and don't really care for the look... if I am selected it will be gloss with Xpel.

Iagree with $20K (minimum) for the option price.

You can get the full set of GT350R carbon wheels as a replacement part for about $11k.

I agree these are stunning and can't wait to see them on an actual car. WOW!

That's less than I thought and not a bad price.

For only a 2 lb savings makes me wonder if there's a partial metal skeleton hidden inside the spokes and rim. It's apparent in the pictures that at least the portion of the hub resting against the rotor is metal, I assume aluminum but maybe stainless steel to isolate the rotor heat better.

That is replacement price. I don't think your going to call in and add them to the GT or a GT350 for any amount for many years.

What do you consider would be a bad price? It's almost ½ the price of a complete 2016 Mazda Miata!, and almost the price of a Ford Fiesta!

For 4 wheels????
