No bibbitybibbitybibbity auctioneer.

That style is THE ONLY WAY IT IS DONE in the midwest... I can't tell you how many farm auctions I went to when I was growing up. Barrett Jackson's primary auctioneers are all from the Assiter group, and being based in Texas, follow the midwest style. I saw one of the european art auctions and I though everyone was falling asleep.

It would be interesting to trace the origin of the style they use. Maybe I'll do that some day.

One auctioneer went through his entire shift and only one or two cars sold.

That had nothing to do with the auctioneer, and everything to do with the bidders and reserve price... People are continuing to put higher unrealistic prices in a market that is faltering. I looked at the Mecum list and was surprised at how many reserve-not-met cars there were. I predict many of the cars will be back with a lower reserve next year.

I watched the entire auction in about 2 hours this morning. I love my DVR and 60x fast forward and the fact that they put the car info and lot number in the upper part of the screen so I can stop and watch the ones I want.

300SL - both gullwing and roadsters - did well.

^^^ Yes. I wasn't blaming the auctioneer. I felt bad for the guy. Reserves were nuts. Frothy market.

Does anyone know why the description for the Heritage GT indicates that it can not be registered in Ca?

Heritage GT's have been outlawed in CA, you better sell me yours at a 50% discount :)

I'd be curious to know how many Ferrari owners are now bidding and buying Ford GTs?

Here's this years Pebble Beach Best in Show Ferrari. And the owner also has a Ford GT.http://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=34904&stc=1&d=1408361080

update: This is the very first Ferrari car:Chassis number 0402AM is Ferrari's first passenger car. It also looked very different when it first left the factory, headed straight to film director Roberto Rosselini's already impressive (and red) collection as a used race car with a spyder body by Pininfarina. The great director then crashed her into a tree, so that 0402AM ended up back at the factory for repairs before arriving to Scaglietti's workshop.

Rosselini felt it was time to turn his 330 hp V12 racer into a classy passenger car, and Scaglietti got to work, creating a unique aluminum body that took more than a year to finish. Some say even Enzo was impressed by the results

In that color, that Ferrari almost looks BMW 507ish.

and in these colors a Ferrari looks like a Ford GT. I'm flattered! http://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/a...ent.php?attachmentid=34905&stc=1&d=1408372681

Jeff, were those colors original? The three nose vents are to recreate the 250GTO appearance, no?

Driving a no longer produced car valued at 200k makes me a tad nervous (20,000+ joyful miles), but if it goes to 1M I may be too scared to drive it or take it to a show. Personally I hope the rate of increase slows down. That's not why I bought it.

^^^sort of wondering the same. Time to re-evaluate insurance coverage.

I am an auctioneer in Ohio, we call the bid clear and distinct. We specialize in real estate and the bidders need to understand where the high bid is and the next increment. I feel the Assiter Group at BJ is one of best in the auto auction business.

How can you only have 3 miles considering just transportation loading and unloading?

Mine was delivered to my house with 2.2 miles on it.

Mine was delivered to my house with just over 3 miles on it. But you beat me.

200 K is marginal in this market even with higher miles

Just wondering what kind of rate Hagerty gave you on the GT. I spoke with a Hagerty rep in Dallas last weekend for some time regarding coverage on my GT. Was looking to move coverage from State Farm (ACV policy with $500 ded) to Hagerty (275k agreed value with 0 ded) and the rate was substantially more than I pay now. 8x! Plus a driving restriction on miles that I do not have now (I would not hit it anyway) and restrictions on use (could not drive it to the office any more). Even the agent thought the quote was a bit high but only a small rise over other GTs his agency insures. IE high but in line. I thought $5k a year was a ridiculous premium.

Is that what you guys really pay for coverage on your GT? is the agreed value peace of mind really worth that kind of coin to you? And before you ask, yes SF knows what the car is worth, at least the right ball park. My rate went up significantly in march as the ratings code change to one for $200k cars.

Bit low, no? Unless you've poured in Jeff Larsen miles, your stripeless black beauty is surely worth a good deal more than that.

I have SF and looked into others as well. I pray that I'll never need to invoke a claim, but I agree with you. If I recall correctly, I've been quoted as high as $8K/year from one of these other specialty carriers which is just plain crazy.

I had Hagerty when I bought my GT. It was over $3k for $180k agreed value and I was limited to 2,500 miles/yr, which I blew through in a hurry. Allstate now.

I am with State Farm. I pay a Fair price and they base the replacement value (should something bad happen) on what the NADA values are at the time. Currently the NADA Values for our GT's is $224,000 which is the "average vehicle"
