Ford GT and The Stig vs Focus???

First off, my rear Goodyears have 5000 miles and need to be replaced , but I went through some S turns, felt the rear break right and like an idiot took my foot off the accellerator and overcorrected....spinning a 360. Didn't hurt anything but learned the hard way about how to deal with oversteer.

Bruce, looking at your list of cars makes me think you are a better driver than you admit!

Focus vs GT

Do you like a car that you can keep the throttle floored everywhere or one that that takes thinking? I respect the GT & realize it is a phenomenal instrument that requires a smart driver with common sense. The Focus is for the ordinary.

Ed

PS Top Gear is a sensationalist tabloid & no different than the National Enquirer or The Sun. Clarkson is an idiot.

Well said Ed!!!
Is it unreasonable to believe you actually have to think a bit to drive a supercar like our FGT at its limits or even at the upper echelon of the car's performance?
Perfectly reasonable IMO.

Bill, it's kind of like the saying, "If it was easy, everyone would be doing it".

Re Top Gear: I just consider it entertainment, and try to enjoy the humor and the camera work.

I'm no apologist for Clarkson, but I would say, having spent a considerable amount of time in his company, that he's not an idiot. Far from it.

He's a satirist who happens to write predominantly about cars and has become one of the worlds best known motoring journalists. He has criticised just about every car I've owned, but I can live with that - I wouldn't brand him a fool for simply having a different opinion.

Interestingly he's a founder member of Help For Heroes, a charity that is actively supporting our wounded soldiers. The British have an unfortunate habit of ignoring our soldiers - he's ensuring we don't.

Seems a shame that an unconnected journalist being 50bhp out brings out Clarkson fever! :cheers

I think you all take Clarkson too seriously, I find him extremely entertaining. Top Gear is my favorite show and his review of the GT convinced me to buy one. He loved the GT by the way, he just hated the aftermarket alarm.

I also think most of us don't have anything near the ability to take the GT anywhere near its' true limits.
