yesterday i finished my "all day oil & tranny service" project. i really enjoyed it, but taking all of those underpanel fasteners was a real pain.
the only two parts that were a little challenging was the size of the oil filter housing cap and the size of the tranny drain plug. luckily i had a 36mm open end wrench from my specialty tools collected for working on my Porsches. then on the tranny drain plug, it was tricky to get a 32mm socket around the plug because there was very little space between the nut & surround housing. it is good that nut has a low torque on it.
i found out i overfilled the car with oil (about 1/2" above the top of the full line), so i'm going to figure out how to extract a bit without resorting to removing the bottom end again. i have a suction gun i use for tranny fluid -- i'm going to see if i can fit a very small diameter hose to it and go in via the oil dipstick.
has any one had much luck getting a quart out via the reservior tank like this?
