First drive in my own car today after getting it delivered from Shelby yesterday.

Initial impressions are amazing. I certainly don't need the tune n pulley, yet! :biggrin

Lots of stares, though I was disappointed no one came over at the gas station to chat...

Car ran great even though its over 90 degrees here, which is rare.

Looking forward to some long fall driving trips!

Run her up to Duluth and Grand Marais - great area in N.Minnesota. Enjoy your new ride.
I know you spent some time finding her - makes it all the sweeter.

I found that some people are a bit intimidated to come up to you while you are in the car or next to it. I almost always get into conversations when I come back to the car where people are standing next to it looking at it.
Glad you are having fun! Good times...:biggrin

I forgot to add... be careful changing lanes, I find people like to hang out in your blind spot checking out the car. They do not want to be obvious and get right next to you so they hang back just a little without realizing they are in your blind spot. :thumbsup

I am in Shoreview. If you feel bad about no one chatting with you get in contact with me! Congratulations on your purchase. Enjoy this hot weather..... it won't be here forever. :frown

Enjoy! If, like me, this is your first supercar you will never forget it.

IMO you'll see this mostly in smaller towns. Many people in these locales are intimidated just by the sight of an exotic alone and, therefore, whomever's driving it as well. 'Guess it likely has to do with the $$$ angle mostly, but, to some degree it'll depend on if your body language/facial expression suggest you're approachable as well.

+1. To change lanes, hit the loud pedal a 'smidge', THEN signal for the lane change. By that time, anyone in your blind spot will no longer BE there! :wink :cheers

Congrats on the new purchase!!! Looks just like mine!!!

Glad to see you get to drive her and your expectations are being met. I will get my chance at Rally V so the countdown clock has started. Need to make sure Shelby got the right accesories on the right car. :biggrin:biggrin:biggrin

Extremely beautiful car Jason,

I drove mine at a Porsche Club driver's skill day to get a better feel for the car. Even among the Porschephiles, the car was a total rock star. Just wait till you get around someone who knows and appreciates cars.

Don't you always accelerate during a lane change anyway? I know it is customary here in the land where we worship at the altar of omnipotent government to slow down to make a lane change. That of course is done when you are tired of driving your Subaru 10 under the limit in the left lane.

Yes - on a 2 lane road. But, when driving on a 4 lane road in a "normal" car there's usually no need to (...and it's the 4 lane situation where you always have someone parked off the rear qtr of a GT). When I come up on slower traffic while driving a "normal" car on a 4 lane, I simply maintain speed, check the side, R.V. mirrors, & pass...unless, of course, the guy I'm passing suddenly decides to STEP ON IT. :mad THEN there's a whole new ball game in play.

But, when driving #1079 I always changed lanes as described in my previous post above (on a 4 lane) because the restricted rearward vision DICTATED it be done that way. :cheers

Enjoy her
