Education on GT market

Hello, new to the forum. I am actively seeking my first GT. Any concerns about cars out of Canada? They are missing the MacIntosh stereo and have larger rear bumpers. Any downside to re-sale down the road? My plan is to buy to enjoy but when you're dropping 200k, I think it is prudent to make sure you buy the right car. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

The bumper simply has additional spacers which can be easily removed and discarded. Canadian GTs also have "always on" headlights and, as you have noted, no optional stereo. In my opinion, the Canadian cars are neither more or less valuable than their US-destined counterparts.

The front Canadian bumpers are a little beefier as well to meet the Canadian standards.

I wouldn't have any qualms about buying a Canadian car, though be aware that they do run on Maple syrup, which can be pretty costly by the gallon.

Didn't some of the headlights on the Canadian cars suffer from crazing because of the daytime running lights? Not a big deal and easy to spot on any car you are considering, but you may want to consider eliminating the daytime running light function if you can get away with it, especially considering the bend-over-and-grab-your-ankles pricing on replacement lights.

I've yet to see a single CDN car with cracked/crazed headlights. Not to say there aren't any out there, I've just not seen one. And I've seen a lot of CDN cars. Maybe it's just the generally cooler weather here.. Anyway, the DRL lights can be switched off by your Ford dealer. Ask me how I know. ;-) As for differences, the rear bumper extension is removable, the front bumper foam is invisible, the lack of a Mac is the same as many 3 options USA cars, and the only real visible difference is our gauges have symbols rather than words (ie a picture of an oil can, fuel pump or battery instead of the words OIL PRESSURE, FUEL or BATTERY) to meet the bilingual requirements of this country.

Obviously lots of passion for the car here! Thanks for all the input. I don't think there's a doubt I will get a GT, it's rather choosing the car that best fits my budget and and preferences. Thanks for all the input, it always astounds me how much knowledge is available through a forum of like minded folks. I'll let you know what happens but I'm not 22 anymore so I think I'll let my brain make the decisions rather than my testosterone for the immediate future (and then reverse that order when driving it).

Of note on the Ferrari 458 Italia - I think it is the first Ferrari I would consider owning since the 1984/85 GTO. Not my current focus but what a beautiful car! Not very stealthy given the sound of the exhaust but man, did I mention that exhaust? Great car to drive at speed.

Yeah, and it takes forever to refuel, especially when it's cold out!
