Cute brakes!
Just like big watches, this was long before big brakes were in! I read somewhere that Ken Miles had to use both feet standing on the brake pedal when he was setting his 0-100-0 record!

I'm trying to decide what to get for my CSX4145 Cobra, too. I had pretty much decided on the Avons. Regarding the Mickeys- just better price and more grip? I like the vintage look of the tread on the Aveally liking the

I ended up really liking the retro look of the Mickey Thompson's. Maybe because I also had them on my 67 fastback Mustang in high school. The handling, performance and grip is very impressive with the Mickey's. Much better than the B.F. Goodrich that came on the car when I bought it. Avons look fantastic, but I was told they were not as good for just street use and they cost about four times as much.

@GT35065

The Mickey Thompsons came with Raised White letters?

Are they limited to the same sizes BFG and Cooper have now (I suspect they buy the carcass from a single source)? I really want a 275/50 but the big 2 discontinued.

On the website, the S/T looks like a rebadged Cooper Cobra.

I too had Mickey Thompsons in High School on my '66 Mustang. They were the "Indy Profile" 50 series. Not great for the way my car was set up but damn they looked cool.

Yes, they came with the raised white letters. You could turn them around and have blackwalls if you like that look better. I like the raised white letters myself.

Not sure what sizes they have available now. When I ordered them a couple years ago, they were the same size as the tires I was replacing.

I like the Raised white letters.

I lament the loss of the P275/50-15" tho.

Clint, Did you buy the Mickeys or Avons? Lots of Mickey styles and tread designs to choose from.

I haven’t gotten anything yet. Still trying to decide which way to go. I had always thought that I wanted the “billboard” Goodyears, but comments about them getting quickly flat-spotted when parked for a short while, and tram-tracking on the road, have me second-guessing. Consensus seems to be that there is no downside to the Avons other than price, and they do look great, with a period-correct tread look. I know some people have “shaved” off the Avon markings and stenciled on the “Goodyear” billboard lettering, but I am not 100% sold on that, either. It’s not that I’m ashamed of the Avon name; after all, it’s a period-appropriate tire, too. I’ve just always loved those Goodyear billboards. I love Mickey Thompson’s on some of my other cars, but they just don’t have quite the look I’m going for with my aluminum CSX Cobra.
