As I watch the news from here in Detroit, we are seeing some massive rain and snowfall in California, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado.
The question I have for you guys that live out there: Is all of this great moisture event (rain in inches and snow in feet) being collected to re-fill the reservoirs, lakes etc.??

Last year, as a side trip to the GT Forum in Newport Beach, we visited the Hoover Dam and were surprised at the low water level. I hope we are taking advantage and collecting the water and hope all you guys are safe.

Andy,

We sure can use the rain. People think that because we live in the desert, it's dry all the time. I've been out here over 6 months, and I'm really surprised by how much rain falls. We even had snow. Course it was up in the mountains. Didn't get to me.

I am just wondering tho, with record snow and cold, and record rain fall across the Country, WHERE THE HELL IS ALL THIS "GLOBAL WARMING" crap !! :willy

Rich - glad to hear you and Evelyn have not been 'washed away" . I was told that it IS the global warming that is causing the cold weather, nice rainfall and snow in the mountains.
Is Lake Meade filling up?

Lots of Rain & Snow and idiot driver accidents mostly caused by immigrants with bicycles for previous wheels, Text messaging & Cell phone use.

Do we need the rain? Absolutely!! Should we be waiting for it to rain to refill our ground wells? Absolutely not!!

Los Angels can learn from Santa Barbara. Years ago they started a desalination plant that produces more fresh water than they can consume. Our idiot local officials need to do the same... May be at the same time they can reduce the rising oceans due to global warming:ack

reservoirs

We'd need ten more years of unusually high snow accumulation and spring runoff to get water level up to normal in Lake Powell and surrounding large reservoirs. Here in CO. we are above average as of this last snow storm.

We on average here have 12-13 inches of rainfall per year... LAst year I believe we had just over 2 inches (not much) as of this week, we've had about 7 inches... 1/2 of our yearly rainfall

So, We haven't had much.. but when we do get it, it usually hits us with a big punch... hence the mudslides and all..... we just can't soak it up as fast as it falls.... and seeing that SoCal is nothing but cement and pavement... well, just makes for rivers in the streets.....
