So all here feel the sound of a 6 vs. 8 doesn't make a difference?

Yes, most buyers, me included, would prefer the sound of a V8, but that fact won't depress demand for the car. Although I prefer a manual, the absence of one doesn't affect my desire to buy this car. In a car that represents Ford's technological tour de force, the EcoBoost and automated manual are appropriate.

Whether we like it or not, forced-induction, small displacement engines are the future. I was once afraid of this trend, but now I don't care since the manufacturers are getting big power out of these engines. I believe both Ferrari and Porsche will have smaller displacement, forced induction motors in their next generation cars.

Please don't take my posts as a knock of this car as I truly hope it is a success, and I'm sure it will be. I also understand the reasoning for the 6 cylinder as it is the wave of the future due to the CAFE standards being crammed down our throats and it allows the race version to be able to compete in it's intended class. I am a big Ford fan and salivating over the new GT350"R". As stated, they won't have any problem moving the new FGT. I just love the styling of the 05-06, a timeless classic. I would love to have a warehouse full of them. I'm not in the same class as many here, no Porsche 918 or McClaren P1 will ever grace my warehouse. Not that I wouldn't want one, just way out of my price range. Just trying to buy what I love and collect within my financial means.

I love the way the car looks, but the best part is that it's advancing design in a way that nobody else is. Every other car in the segment is similar to one degree or another. This thing is from the future.

Gentlemen,

Yeah. I just need to make sure it's from MY future.

I have been to the future and I am pretty sure I saw one in your driveway

It does have the look of being long, but if I recall correctly, either Kip or Jamal that I was talking to at Detroit, they mentioned that is is within something of an inch of our (05-06) wheelbase, and not much longer overall.

I see that too, especially the length hanging out behind the rear wheels.

I was thinking 4" extra length and 2" wheelbase - 1" lower. Better for racing, but it's starting to make me like the 05-06 better.

Looks 20" longer behind the rear wheel but much shorter ahead of the A pillar, so you may be correct.

I see that too, especially the length hanging out behind the rear wheels.

That part of the design does seem to stand out more in the prototype than in the show cars.
