Best Battery choice(s)?

I am using the INTENSITY - i25X - Left Side Positive and you will also need the CH 1236L Braille Lithium 12 Volt 6 Amp Charger. When you first pick it up it will seem like an empty battery case.

I checked the Summit Racing site--$999. Ouch. I think I'll keep replacing regular batteries for that price. Now, if they got it down to say, $400, I'd take one.

We continue to use Optima - though we fit the slightly larger yellow top YTS 4.2 - sensibly priced and well behaved if looked after.

I paid $849.99 for the battery and $50.00 for the charger.

If I was racing it, that might be worth the weight savings. For a road car, I'll wait for the price to come down.

Ouch !

that's funny

i have a 11 year old ford gt battery powering my 78' cobra II. thought it might make it faster.

Does a battery sourced from a ford dealer at this point still come with the GT sticker, and is it black (vs an optima yellow or red)?

No Andy, they are only red tops but they do come with the Ford GT sticker. I was told they come out of Evansville, IN.

Thanks Frank!

Seems like fair price. How much carbon fiber would it take to drop an equivalent amount of weight from the car?

This will drive people crazy, but the most reliable choice is a standard Group 78DT (dual terminal). Available at any major auto supply or discount store. I just replaced my last one after nine years and it was still in good shape. i just felt guilty. Fits right in with no modifications.

Make sure the replacement is an Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) type and that your charger supports AGM.

I've been thinking about this one too. My only reluctance is Duracell dry cell batteries are crap. When they run down they leak and ruin what ever they are in. I know these are different but still Duracell.

Well I made my choice, car is finally starting to be a bit "loagy" on start up, and as it will be off the tender for the trip to Utah and back, I figured it was time to replace the original battery.

I got the Ford supplied Optima. I looked at Auto Zone, and their Optima was something like $259, The Ford supplied was $209 (I paid a decent amount less). And the cool part, as Frank mentioned above, it does indeed still come with the GT sticker.

That's what I did. I know a lot of people complain about the new OEM battery but mine is two years old and no problems. If it tanks, I'll just buy another one.

That's an excellent price. Just put a new one in here and working great.

Exactly what I have planned for the old one....73 CJ-5 :biggrin

THere's a new battery on the market based on Nickel-Zinc chemistry. The company making them is ZincFive. Does anyone know about these things?
