Another Wing Paint Damage Issue

I had the '18 GT out for a long run today in this glorious early Fall weather here in MA. Got back, parked the car and raised the rear wing as directed to prevent the paint gouging problem to the rear quarter panels caused by the INBOARD leading edge of the wing "tipping" if stored in the down position thereby making contact with the body. I always do a walk-around before leaving and a NEW paint defect was noticed. The OUTBOARD leading edge of the wing on both sides incurred a small paint chip at the leading edge CORNER. I've not seen this kind of paint damage to the wing itself previously discussed on the Forum.

Has anyone else experienced a paint chip on the outboard CORNERS of the leading edge of the wing itself on both sides? If so, is there a fix or adjustment to prevent recurrence before I have the paint repaired?

Also, I have delayed arranging for refinishing the two approximately 1/4" diameter gouges on the L and R rear quarters caused by the wing tipping when stored in the down position before Ford's TSB was issued advising us to park the car with the wing up. Have Ford or Multimatic Engineers developed a permanent fix for the wing tipping issue so the cars do not have to be parked with the wing deployed to the raised position?

It would be great to have these wing malfunctions which cause paint damage mechanically resolved before undertaking the needed paint repairs as I am concerned with possible paint damage recurring after the panels are refinished.

I am dealing with this right now. Call the concierge. It must be seen by a servicing dealer. I do not have damage to the wing itself.

I wouldn't anticipate parking with the wing down long term any time soon.

Here’s what I use to protect my GT from wing damage and it works! These are cabinet door stops.

Here’s what I use to protect my GT from wing damage and it works! These are cabinet door stops.

I was gonna suggest something like this!

I was told by MM that the issue was resolved on my 2019
I never leave the wing up and have had no issues

With all do respect Ron, I dont think you can speak to this issue because your drive your car too frequently.;)
My 2019 has been hard parked on the top lift for way too long but the raised wing has not moved.

My car was delivered July 2019. While the delivery specialist was at my house he was informed from Ford about leaving the wing up. I think driving the car often does provide some protection.
it is like my motorcycles, if I don’t ride them often , fork seals begin to leak. Rubber seals dry out and begin to stick, microtears , and leak!

Driving the New Ford GT is a MUST for all the reasons above because the GT is Highly technical machine, My delivery specialist emphasized the importance of driving my GT often and not letting it just sit!

Some good news on the rear wing repair......we have done a test run on the repair and should be out shortly along with the reflash for the transmission buzzing.........stay tuned.

Having kept over a dozen cars for long-term storage, my advice would be park with the wing up. Some will tilt overnight. Some will barely move in months. I don't see a big reason to risk having the car parked with it down. There was a time the message was park with the wing down. There was a time it was park with the wing up. If the wing tilts while up, it's no big deal and it will right itself when the system is started. If it tilts while down, you can employ various objects to ensure there isn't panel to panel contact, or you can just hope that this time the directive is correct.

To me it's the same as the suspension shims re:contact rattling. The shims are the fix. Except that sometimes they are definitively not. I would be wary of absolutes when it comes to hand-built unicorns. In the case of the wing dinging your paint, I personally just wouldn't risk it, barring a compelling explanation that the wing being deployed while parked is otherwise detrimental to the system.
