Spoke to a nice fellow at Whipple yesterday and HE said that the stock throttle body is fine for up to 19 psi. They have left the stock TB on cars that are doing their blower replacement so far, unless a change is requested. So maybe you can use that $630 elsewhere.

The X-pipe is a good idea though, as is the Accufab or Bob Ida intake plenum stiffener.

$6K shopping list of mine would include:
1/ Short Shifter $450
2/ Mac Delete Enclosure w/Shadowman's Speaker ~$2k all up with panels or...
2a/ You could also swap the Mac Delete option for a pulley
3/ Exhaust ~$2K (Acufab @ $1,550 everybody else between $2k -$2.5k)
4/ Tuner package (SCT) ~$500 from HP performane in Fla
5/ Throttle body and plenum stiffner $800

Feeling of more power and a "tuned" or mod'd GT - PRICELESS

you need to consider 2a rather than 2.... priceless, as you say, the mac woofer delete is an option at best.

my five cents

Pulley/Tune/Exhaust. That's about it.

What's are the cost estimates for the pulley options and additional benefits of the various options?

1) Swap stock pulley with smaller pulley - how much?

2) Upgrade to KB snout and pulley - cost? I hear that this method enhances the lubrication also...

3) Whipple conversion - cost?

I'm not sure which way to go, out of 1 or 2...3 is probably too pricey, and I plan to stay with CA pump gas, which means 91 octane max, so 3 might be a waste for me anyway...

Any of them can work on 91.

Pulley/Tune from Heffner is worth around 600rwhp for $1400. That's what I have, and the car is good for 135mph in the 1/4.

Whipple will cost about +-10k and will get you about 740rwhp.

KB kit is inbetween on both power and cost.

Personally I'd either go P/T or Whipple because you may as well either take the simple route or go all out...

Pulley/tune! Without a doubt!!!

Any ideas on a plexi panel where the sub would be???

My plan will be pulley/tune/exhaust (likely accufab) and plenum stiffner.

Sounds like a good, proven way to go, and high bang for the buck value.

Agreed?

Agreed. I truly don't think most people will handle what the Whipple has to offer. I'm a bit of a maniac, so the pulley tune already feels slow, but the car will crush 200mph in short order, turn 135mph through the 1/4, and allow you to steer with your right foot through any turns. Would an extra hundred horsepower be nice, of course, but it's just so easy to make two little changes and get an animal of a car by any objective standard...

OK, it is admittedly hard to sound objective here, but I would advise that those looking to increase HP, you'd be remiss not to also install a transaxle cooler. In fact, in the 2007 version of the hardbound Ford Racing Catalog, they pre-announce their upcoming pulley upgrade and advise that the transaxle cooler be installed in advance of HP increases (and we all know they're as objective on the subject as I am... lol).

Over the last several months I've personally installed more than a dozen coolers and *most* of the cars had exhibited some residual oil around the stock breather. This oil accumulates from the heated vapors escaping from the transaxle - caused by considerable heat build-up within the transaxle. Adding and subsequently utilizing more HP, will only add to the heat absorbtion within the transaxle - hence Ford's recommendation. Although the aftermarket breather kits are also a practical accessory, the transaxle coolers also eliminate this breather leakage by addressing the root cause.

On the positive side, the presence of a transaxle cooler does add some bling for your under-hood admirers in addition to adding some peace of mind for the well-being of the car.

Indeed. I only use my car on the street at this point, so I don't have TC. I'll add one when it comes back out in the spring because I plan on tracking the car...

The first thing I did was Big Mac delete. If I had to do it all over again, the first thing I would do would be Big Mac delete.

So then you're left with just fries and a drink? I hope you didn't make the girl cry like Bony does...

Jay (screen name Analogdesigner) knows about the plexi panel and gasket. He is a supporting vendor. His website is www.gtsaver.com

Drop him a line, I am sure he can help you out.

Nobody mentioned the transmission cooler, varies from $600 (non Ford) to $1300 (Ford).

BH1,
I sent you a PM about a CF panel that may interest you...

Hey, I like CF too. :wink
Spill the beans! :banana :banana
