My unlocked FGT parked in the garage connected to a Battery Tender, with no one around the car, suddenly for no reason the cars alarm decided to go active, horns blaring! I tried the key remote, no response to unlock or lock buttons. I disconnected the battery and reconnected it to turn the alarm off. All is well after that.

Weird!!!

Do you know where BOTH key fobs are?

Do you know where BOTH key fobs are?

I have 3, but the others are in some draw somewhere and only my son and I were in the house, neither of us were near a key. Also doesn't explain why when I got the key I couldn't turn it off.

must be the air where you live.....

My guess - lost ground at the chassis

Operator malfunction would be my guess... :tongue

Might the vehicle's diagnostics sys show a code for what caused it to go into alarm (like which sensor may have triggered it, or whatever)??? :shrug

or The BMW drive by with the Boys with the Golden Chains.

Sounds like you got a small taste of what happened to Mr. Clarkson at Top Gear when he got his FGT, except his kept doing it.

Pocket dialing...

Low battery on your key fob?

Doppelgänger!

I think that is a good guess. When working on my car with a ground line disconnected, the wipers randomly began operating with the stalk in the off position.
