Great thread Atomic, my GT brother.
I know how much you love and respect your GT, and therefore how frustrating it is to have to have such a hassle to get her out on the road....sounds like you need to relocate!

Jeff, how in the world can you have the original front tires at 72K? I've never heard of a mileage spec commuter tire even getting that much????

OK then, sounds like we need to hit the road again in September...let the heat die down a bit and the kids get back to school/college. We need to try something new.

On another note anybody going to be up at Laguna Seca next month for the races? We'll be there Thursday and Friday.

I had cause to talk to my GT recently and congratulate it. Leaving Le Mans at one in the morning with the fuel warning light on and 33 miles (conservatively) to the nearest gas station....... I was convinced I was going to run out of fuel, so much so that I watched every marker on the freeway just in case I needed to call someone for help..... mile after mile in 6th gear hardly touching the gas pedal... coasting down the hills.... we made it. On vapours!

I had the low fuel light comesi on n nowhere South Dakota, sign said 35 miles to the next exit with gas availiable, and with the proverbial egg between my foot and the pedal.
Somehow I made it just fine. And put in 17.1 gallons! A few drops and vapors were all that were left.

Kevin, I guess I'm real gentle with the steering wheel. :wink

Slow into a corner and fast out works for me.

No real driving differences, just most of the weight is in the "go end" of the GT.

Kevin - I'll be there, arriving Wednesday afternoon, through the weekend and leaving Monday morning. I'll be in the paddock area most of the time, at Ed Matsuishi's assigned location (undetermined at this time) for his 1965 Porsche 911 SWB #96.(Lucky Lager Racing Team - lol)

I heard the Nielda story first hand last week in Mayfair at a Lebanese restaurant in Shepherd's Market, it is better live, but pretty scary, none the less.

It's an odd feeling to be certain you're going to run out of gas in the middle of the night in the middle of France without a real clue where you are whilst in an expensive car. I drove halfway on the hard shoulder (not sure what you call it over there, the breakdown lane) so that I wouldn't have to push my car too far out of the way of any traffic. I had visions of some half asleep French lorry driver totalling my GT by running up the back of it. A real white knuckle 33 miles at 50mph. Kind of odd after driving a full tilt around the circuit at Le Mans!
