Any one have any input/pix on the forthcoming rebodied Explorer? I hear the Ecoboost will be available, but haven't seen or heard much else.

I searched and came up empty.
I do know it is a complete ground up new suv. And I think it is on the Flex chassis.

It's supposed to be really good looking. We have a renter that is a Ford designer and he did the interior. He claims that he's not just saying so because he did it, but that it's the best interior they have. Supposedly filled with tech.

Someone I know that was vehemently against the project because of financial reasons did a 180 when he actually saw it...so that bodes well.

Thanks guys. I'm concerned about the Flex; don't want the Explorer to be a lifted Flex, so I'm hoping your associate's opinion come to fruition.

I hope its not on a Flex chassis I've been under a few its not much of a chassis. The chassis could probably hold a explorer body but it wouldn't have the ability to tow anything.

It is.

It won't.

Any update on this thread? Anyone own or drive a 2011? Im going to look at one for my wife.

The vehicle is great. Drives smooth and very responsive. Eco boost not out as of yet. The only issue is that the car has more technology than my head can handle. I sell them. Both the Limited and the XLT with leather are great vehicles.

I heard it will be built on the Taurus chassis with FWD.

We got an Explorer in the middle of December. It's a limited and has everything. It's a very cool suv, rides and drives great, has tons of space, is good in the snow. We have a renter that is a designer at Ford and he did the entire interior. It's very well done. It's been averaging around 18 mpg in mostly city driving. I agree with Mike that the tech system will be too much for some buyers. If you spend 15 minutes figuring out how to navigate through everything, it becomes pretty second nature, but the reality is most car buyers don't even bother maintaining their car, let alone figuring it out.

Is the Taurus and Flex chassis the same or related?
