I know sales have slowed down (what sales haven't?) but are they planning a 2010 model KR? any info appreciated as I have to make a decision in the next few weeks.

Nope. There won't be a 2010 GT500KR.

Thanks DBK, does that mean no more will be built? and if others are going to be built will there be new options?

Just the 08's and 09's, however many they said in the announced combos. I think like 1700.

So would buying a 2008 500KR for $80K a good or fair deal? Or should wait for prices to come down further if possible?

shelby inc. is saying this....
There will be a KR for 2011 I spoke with Shelby myself today

i think it will be a mistake for ford to create another kr.

Until the economy turns around I think they have built more that are being bought. Prices have plummeted since August. I would wait 60-90 days and see where things are going.

I would also say they will get much cheaper.

There's a silver KR on eBay in San Antonio with a starting bid of 70K with no reserve. No bids on the car yet. Most cars bidding up to the mid to high 60K range with no completed sales. I think ultimately thats where prices will settle. A dealer in Dallas still wants 20 to 30K over sticker on his....seems to be totally out of touch with the times.

A local dealer here has three KRs. Offered one to me at $76K. Tempting but.....

Should I just go with a used GT500 with low mileage at around $35K and Super Snake it?

Should I just go with a new 2010 GT 500

Should I wait 60 days or so and see if prices come down more?

Should I just go with a new Carrera S and forget the KR?

Any thoughts or suggestions?

According to the mags the 2010 GT 500 shares alot with the current KR.. More power suspension etc.. You may want to wait.. the new body looks interesting

Waxer, please start blowing into a brown paper bag to calm your anxiety. Just send me $80K and I will solve your dilema. Dr. Frank

KR's should come down much more...

Looking at the KR's, I believe when the 2010 GT 500's come out in April or so, the KR's will drop like a rock. A 2010 GT 500 with essentially the same performance and (subjectively) better looks (especially the rims) loaded stickers for less than $55K. I understand that the KR's are done at Shelby in Vegas and the 2010 GT 500's are from the factory but I don't think that will affect value for years to come. I would love to hear if anyone agrees or has some information which will sway me as I am waiting for the 2010 to come out. My '08 is going to Vegas to be supersnaked next month.

I agree. I am waiting for the 2010 GT500, I don't see any urgency to buy the KR as they aren't selling. I think the 2010 GT500 is much better looking too.

I'm looking at the same purchase, one or the other...

Near as I can tell, engine specs are the same. Can't tell if the Shelby suspension parts from the KR made it to the 2010 GT500?

Looks to me like the differences are going to be pretty subtle - major styling changes on the base Mustang aside (I know, that could be a big "aside" to some!). I have to say I do prefer the '09 KR hood. And I do like the silver / blue stripes available on the 2009, but haven't seen that as an option for the 2010's.

Some have mentioned prices dropping on '09's when the 2010's come out. Do you think something in the range 65-70K might fly?

I think you will definitely see them in that range. The fact of the matter is they had supply problems and the cars came to market too late and now the 08-09s are screwed. The KR is a faster car with a more aggressive suspension, but you could definitely argue it doesn't look as good, it's interior is vastly inferior, and it's way more costly. It's a really neat car and it will unquestionably be worth way more down the line (1700 units vs. potentially 30,000), but having been in and around the 2010, that is one bad ass car. I've driven the KR on public roads, and I don't think on anything but a racetrack would you sense the difference.
