I too noticed that ol' Radio Shack Micronta power supply, I still have mine also. However, my variable power supply gets the use now.

Got an even bigger kick out the Realistic? Radio Shack 12 volt converter! Use mine frequently for testing.

I know it Jeff! I've had that power supply for 40 years and it just keeps working. I still have my TRS-80 Model III in the basement. Too bad Radio Shack couldn't figure a way to keep up with the times...

Ok, I spent some time this weekend connecting my lights to a friends GT. The first pass went pretty good. The first thing I noticed was that the OEM taillight has the electrical connector so high, that its nearly impossible to get off without removing the taillight. Mine puts the electrical connector in a good position for connecting/disconnecting without having to remove the taillight. The second problem that I knew about, but forgot was that the OEM taillight uses those destructive nuts that cut into a plastic bayonet that serves as a thread. You can only do this so many times before it won't hold your taillight on anymore! Mine uses threaded studs which I think is an improvement. So here are the results.

Here is the car with the parking lights on. My taillight is on the right, OEM on the left. BTW I love the gulf orange color of this car!
Below is a picture with the brake lights on. The brightness seems to match pretty good. My levels are adjustable if I need to make a change, but I think I'm happy with them.

and finally the reverse lights. Note that these are LEDs, where the OEM uses an incandescent bulb. Its hard to tell from the picture, but the incandescent has a little yellow to it where the LED is more white in color. I'm not too concerned. after all these cars were not really designed to impress in reverse.

So I did find that when the right blinker was turned on, the light would blink faster due to a different load than the OEM. The flasher relay that you hear clicking is mechanical and the flash rate is based on resistance of the load. I found an electronic replacement for $12 that blinks at an electronically controlled rate no matter what taillight is installed and that will be my remedy. I had my first completely clear lens with me and for grins taped it up to see how well the GT dons the "Evo" look. I think it might look good with the right color car. I'm not sure I like it on with the orange. Did I say how much I like the gulf orange?

The fit was pretty good, but I had a housing interference issue with the mounting flange that slightly tilted the assembly. I am going to reposition the rear cover and also recess it to resolve that issue. Here is a shot from the inside to see what I am talking about. Do you like those nice reusable studs?

I'll continue to keep posting with the next developments. In the meantime I am really, really trying to pick up a wreck to help speed my project along. There are a few on copart that I am impatiently waiting for an auction date. If anyone knows someone with a wreck, I'd love to talk to them.

Complete interior wiring harness, IP pedals, HVAC, seat belts, brake booster are in. All the tube bundles are in and the bottom of the car is buttoned up.

Also found some pretty cool GTX1 rotors and calipers. These are 6 piston and larger diameter than stock. I had never heard of the GTX1 car until someone came out of the woodwork. He also had some coilovers from the GTX1 car.

They will be pressed into the new widebody control arms and mounted, the rest of the cooling system will be connected, the front wiring harness that I have is a mess and I will have to splice and dice to get it done right. A few more connections like AC, power steering, brake lines will be needed, but once the cooling system and front electrical is done, I will actually be able to try and start the car, which will definitely be happening this year. The doors and widebody bodywork will come later.

If anyone has some parts lying around, I am looking for a drivers door and a passenger mirror!

I've been struggling with the color. I want it to pop. I like orange or a brighter blue but red is safe and always looks good. I want it to be unique.
