Hi Again.
My name is John and I introduced myself to this board in November. I purchased a 2006 Blue FGT from Shelby and today took it to Ida Automotive for upgrades. I met with Rob and Bob Ida and they wanted to set a baseline before they make any changes so they put it on their chasis dyno. I ran 156.9 mph in 4th gear. It was an awesome time. I am still grinning. It was 55 degrees and the engine produced 568 hp. I will try to attach photos for those that are interested.

That's good power out of a stocker so congrats:D Can't wait to see what it does with upgrades and you will love it with 600+rwhp. Becareful and put some good rear tires on it....

I will be waiting for the next six weeks to find out, but the weather here is going to turn bad any moment so it really does not matter how long it takes.

Bridgestones or even better, Hoosiers to hook up. Nice results! :thumbsup

Where r u in NJ?

Congrats and welcome. Indeed that is good power from a stock GT. The factory does an awesome job with ECU calibrations. On your A/F graphs, notice that you have a slight trend down (richer) as the RPM climbs. That's good - and safe! It also validates good fuel delivery and that both fuel pumps in have checked in and are delivering!

The usually reason for the a/f going rich is COTS protection, catalytic over temperature safety. Sustain high output running will over heat the cats that will shorten their lifespan. Most aftermarket tunes turn COTS off, trading off more HP for a shorter CAT life.

Ralphie, What is a forum member? please explain, I am a little confused.
Viper, I live in Monmouth County, NJ.
Nota4re, Yes I did notice the fuel mixture getting richer but did not know why.

There is a person on FChat claiming to have made 578 rwhp with stock pulley. Were these engines not rated at 550hp at the crank from the factory?

Indeed they were. It certainly was not the first time a Ford engine has been under-rated. The 03-04 Cobras were rated at 390hp but most were turning 420 at least. Remember, the early press information for the GT said 500hp. Maybe they should have bumped it up a little more than "just" 50hp more.:thumbsup

So the 550 at the crank the factory rated them at should really have been rated at 660? That's a conservative estimate for a car making 570 at the rear wheels. That's impressive if it's true.

Well, the industry standard 15% difference between crank hp and wheel hp might not be the same in a RWD mid-engine application like the GT. No drive shafts to soak up power like in a front engine RWD vehicle. I don't know if 660 would be a good crank hp rating, but it would certainly be impressive if true. Maybe "only" 600 or so from the factory.

There are 5 levels of individual membership to the Forum - the upper 4 levels involve payment to support Dave Bannister (DBK), the owner of the Forum. The upper 4 levels are "Mark IV Lifetime," "Mark II Lifetime," "Platinum Annual," and ""Gold Annual." There are 2 free categories at the 1st level - "GT Owner" and "Spectator." Finally, there is a special category of "Supporting Vendor" for those businesses that wish to advertize their products or services.

That is quite good for a stock pulley GT although I am not sure if it has other mods. I know the only other stock pulley GT that made great power was Kevin's out in CA that I got 596WHP/560WTQ out of.

My Ford GT has no upgrades, it is completely stock. The horsepower rating to me is really just a baseline not an absolute number. I was told to run the FGT in 4th gear because that is the closest ratio to 1:1, hence getting the most horsepower to the rear wheels.

Ralphie, thank you for the member break down.

7,000 rpm's in 4th gear = 180 mph
