They were afraid to enter a GT. I ran a 11.88 at 127MPH last summer in mine:

I knew the GTR would win, no surprise, but the Z06 should have done way better...it's a 10 second car, with the right driver. No way should the Audi R8 GT have beaten it...and where was the mighty Viper ACR in all of this?
My 2008 Bone Stock Viper Roadster did this in the quarter - and broke a worlds record for the fastest bone stock Viper in the quarter, ever. It has not been beaten yet. This was done by the previous owner of the car - Jamie Furman with only 100 miles on it when it was done.
and here's the video of him doing it...now, he also pulled a 10.98 with his bone stock Z06...so what's with the 11.7 on the 11-car drag race? The only one with realistic times was the GTR. Guess these drivers just can't cut the mustard in a drag race. Seems only the auto trans cars (launch controlled) did some solid times...Hmmmmmmm.

He also ran an 11.5 in his Ford GT...which he did indicate at one time would run 10's with a few simple mod's.

Personally I think all of these race organizers are afraid to put the GT in these shows after the "Battle of the supercars" episodes , they just dont want to get embarassed when the older GT beats the crap out of the newer technology

I think the GT would have stayed with or edged the GT-R...and with the right driver, would have walked it easily...

Who cares who won. The 458 is gorgeous and the GTR is like sleeping with an ugly woman. The 458 & GT would be an amazing fantasy. Just ask Mitch!

It was all for fun. The cars were not taxed to the max because they have to be returned intact to their owners. I suspect many of them had their traction contols engaged.
