Hello HighHP. Thanks for the kind words. This is probably a good idea. Does anyone know how to change the thread title?

Hey Andy. If not abused, and depending on cathode type (there are six main lithium cathode types used in consumer batteries), your lithium battery should last at least 10 years if not (much) more. Abuse would be excessive overcharge, fast charging in extreme cold (like below -20C) or long term...

UPDATE: The prototype lithium batteries are still working fine and I've refined the firmware and added some extra features to the app. However, production of additional porotypes is on hold as some of the integrated circuits I use are still on backorder due to COVID related supply shortages.

    Failed Gauges Redux

No worries Nattee. I'll keep hunting for a source and will let you know if I find a tach or a speedo. In the meantime, does any forum member have a used, broken speedo they want to sell? I'd like to take a crack at diagnosing and researching an effective repair solution.

    Failed Gauges Redux

UPDATE: I talked to Palo Alto Speedometer as suggested by member Specracer and no joy. Unfortunately they specialize in vintage gauges (cars built be fore the mid '90s) and have no experience with e Ford GT gauges. Also, the OEM speedometer I thought I bought from ebay vendor Lascoautoparts...

tach inoperative after the battery went flat

Well, the ebay vendor (Lascoautoparts) from whom I purchased the OEM speedometer just informed me they "don't have one and can't find one". So back to square one.

    Failed Gauges Redux

Thanks Natee. I needed the speedometer, but while browsing your link for the tach, I located a speedometer from another merchant. Not cheap, though slightly less expensive than quotes from dealers and more importantly, in stock. For anyone that needs a speedo, I think they are showing another...

tach inoperative after the battery went flat

Thanks Vincent. I did not know they could do that. I'd like a speedo as close to OEM look as possible. The main questions are, can they match the finish of the OEM bezel? do I need the voltage inverter for backlighting? and what do I have to do to get it to fit the OEM panel?. I'll call and...

    Failed Gauges Redux

Specracer, I just looked up Palo Alto Speedo. They would appear to have the expertise to at least diagnose and propose a solution. I'll call them Monday and report back.

    Failed Gauges Redux

So far so good. I ran a test with the battery fully charged in the car and the alarm activated and let the car sit for three weeks. The battery capacity reduced to 33% with a terminal voltage of ~13.0 volts (I can communicate with the battery via WiFi and it reports it's vitals), and it...

    Failed Gauges Redux

Hey Steve. Yeah, I remember that. My speedometer went out years ago, possibly around the time AnalogDesigner was working on his anti-surge device. I'm just now getting around to replacing it. I too am an engineer and have designed my own lithium starter battery for the GT which is better at...

tach inoperative after the battery went flat

I'm curious. Since the SpeedHut Speedometer is "plug-n-play" (according to their website), is it possible to transfer the "innards" of a Speedhut gauge to the shell of an OEM gauge?

    Failed Gauges Redux

UPDATE: I checked with Tasca Ford and unfortunately they do not have any in stock and had no idea about availability. Is Ford no longer manufacturing this part? What recourse do we have if we want an OEM (not SpeedHut) Tach or Speedo?

    Failed Gauges Redux

Yep, I acquired the small gauges from Autometer. Too bad they don't carry the Speedo or the tach. Eric

Thanks guys for the responses. I'll check Tasca Ford and update everyone on what I find.

    Failed Gauges Redux

Hello Forum members. I'm finally ready to replace all my failed gauges on my '05 GT. I've acquired new fuel, engine temp and boost gauges from Autometer. I now need to source a new speedometer. Does anyone have a good (best price) source they can recommend? Also, some time ago, there was a...

Ok, another update. At an indicated 20.8% capacity and a measured 13.11V at the terminals, the car cranked fine! However, mindful of GT@50's note, I don't think I'll go any lower, though I'm confident the car would crank at lower states of charge. Next step is to build a couple more prototypes...

Tony, I am a degreed Electrical Engineer and have been designing electronic devices and coding for over 25 years for various companies and as a hobby. Props to you on the hard drive firmware. That stuff is no joke! Do a search for ESP32 and you'll find several development boards. Most have...
