Anyone getting an 08' Viper to add to your collection or even thinking about trading the GT for one? I'm thinking, trade, and invest the other 50K.

No, No, Never, Never

Ever since I was a small kid playing with my hot wheels cars I dreamed of owning a GT40. To me it was the holy grail of automobiles. When Ford announced that they were going to do this two year run I told my sons that we would have one come hell or high water. I bought it because its a religious experience for me. The culmination of a lifetime of dreams. Add a viper to the collection maybe. Sacrifice my GT, Hell no! Not today not ever!

Dont do it

Please stop smoking crack. Remember, crack kills.

Shop around for a supercharged 03 to 06. More horsepower at a reasonable price. Don't even think about getting rid of the GT. My viper is a convertible, works out well with the GT being a closed car.

I would be happy to trade you out of the GT for a 2008 viper! CALL ME!

You're joking right?

Man I wouldn't even trade an 06 for an 08 viper, you can buy like new 06 SRT 10's coupes for the low to mid 60's 25 to 30k less for not getting the new engine with the extra 90 hp. Then put a supercharger on for 5 or 6 grand and you have about 700 hp and 20k plus in your investment account!
Me personally I would not give up the GT for any other car, I also have felt it was the wholly grail of cars since I was a kid. I love vipers but they don't compare to a GT in my opinion and they are soft when used, usually give up about 30 percent of msrp in only a year.

Doc, Take two asprin and call your primary in the morning for a referral to a good Psychiatrist. You have obviously lost your mind.

I think you should do it. :biggrin

If you'd rather pocket the cash for an investment, go for it. That said, the Viper is absolutely nowhere near the car the GT is. Cool car, great performance...but you wouldn't put it in the same category as a 430 or Gallardo, and that's the category the GT is in. I drove an 08 a couple months ago. Prodigious hp and tq. Very raw. Would be a killer track car.

Couldn't of said it better and can't think of anything to add.

Not the way to invest.

The Ford GT has a proven track record now. They hold their value. The Dodge Viper also has a proven track record. They lose about 25% or more in depreciation the first year. So to sell a Ford GT that is depreciating little or not at all to buy a Viper that will sting you $25,000 in 12 months, you better have a hell of an investment for that 50K because you'll lose half that amount on your Viper the first year. JMO

Could not have said it better myself Chip ^^^^

You're selling a limited production super car that has held it's value very well in exchange for some extra money and another sports car that has been in production for 15 years that will depreciate in value quickly in comparison. Don't get me wrong, I really like the Dodge Viper too, but to sell a Ford GT in exchange for one? If you need the money that is one thing, but if this is a casual move in search for more money - The current investment (FGT) is holding well.

Then again what do I know? Back to washing cars :tongue

I sold my Viper and I have two Ford GTs......that is my opinion....

What color is your GT? That would dictate if you should do it or not. If it is black, then you definately need to dump that hunk of junk. Just let me know where you dump it. :biggrin

OK, I just took my aspirin and feel much better now.:thumbsup What the heck happened?:confusedI'll be keeping the GT, thank you.

Told you not to inhale. Whew!

My opinion only...the only Vipers demanding top dollar are 96 GTS slowly creaping back towards MSRP, and the 1998 GT2. These are already selling above the 110K mark.
