Is putting a after market super charger on the gt a smart decision for down the road value of the car?

Probably not, but it is smart for fun today and tomorrow!

To the purest? Pbly not if it were KNOWN the mod had been made. But, the after market blower could always be replaced by the OEM piece B4 selling the car, and who would know (unless they were told)?

Unless the car is "thrashed" everytime it leaves the garage, installing the aftermarket piece shouldn't harm anything anyway.

My feelings are a bit different; American Muscle cars have long been twisted and tweaked and there are typically as many folks on both sides of the fence when looking to make a purchase.

I think that how secondary systems are integrated will play a larger role than whether a system has been integrated. The add to this there will be certain items that will become accepted as a typical upgrade/change as such many folks will actually look for these when considering a purchase. Certainly there will always be those folks wanting only a true OEM gal but the financial spread between a high quality driven OEM gal versus a high quality methodically tweaked gal will likely remain very close. I feel that this situation will be more unique to these gals because of their very limited numbers and the high market acceptance of them.

Considering that the gals are just now falling out of the proverbial pipeline it will take a couple years to tell but in the end a clean well maintained GT will always be a marketable piece

Now having said this I installed a Whipple on my gal before she had 50 miles on her; in fact I had only driven her once and have never looked back.

Takes care

Only if you think so? With 4038 being produced these cars are hardly rare. Furthermore, if they do become rare I will be to old to care.

I dunno, Bony. If it's true 10% of 'em have been wrecked already to date ( as discussed/estimated/documented/whatever on other threads) - the FGT could be "rare" by next Tuesday! :lol :cheers

I think Bony is right on. Enjoy your car to its fullest, however, you think is the way to do it. If the car was bought for an investment, it was probably a poor choice (in the short term anyways). Now, if it was bought for enjoyment purposes, your car is worth its weight in gold. AND may, I further add that this car + the forum members = a priceless combo.

I've always felt its OK to do a reversible mod. Always "keep" the "original" PARTs so you can give them to the next owner. Chances are they leave your mods in place & hold on to the parts in case they sell it (and so on). There are a few extreme purists that might frown on it, but they are few & far between.

Never have so many (4038) appeared to be so few. IMO a significant percentage of these cars have been squirreled away into the collections of museums and collectors both small and large, and even many owners on this forum have at least one car in a year-round hibernating state, under cover and connected to a trickle charger or with the battery disconnected. It would not be a surprise to learn that 100's of these cars end up in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The GT is being wrecked at an alarming rate, but we are learning that does not diminish the number of cars, rather it diminishes the number of clean title cars.
Perhaps the most significant reason so many GT's appear to be so few, is that there is a legion of owners who will never sell their GT so long as they can afford to keep it, and for many, if finances get tight, the GT will be the last vehicle to go. Some owners would choose their GT over their spouse without hesitation, others would have to give the decision considerable thought :banana :willy :banana

Ask any male GT owner, which has a higher maintenance cost, their GT, or spouse. I think everyone knows the answer and what to do if the budget gets tight.

:rofl:lol:rofl

What is impacting the market and keeping prices stable is simply the fact that there is not a replacement car.

Those of us that buy the latest and greatest from Porsche, Ferrari most of the time trade in our current rides.

If Ford trumped the FGT you would see a flood of them on the market. And... The market would respond exactly like the F car market, pay $100k over msrp to be the first on your block, and sell it after the latest model is out for $75k to $100k off msrp. Take a look at the F360 market today.

I love my FGT, great car, great forun. But, it sure as hell is not an investment... It is a toy.

Will I keep it, today that is my plan.

Have One With A Whipple

And Putting a whipple on the other as we talk right now.Just save all the parts.the car should have came with it in the first place.

Life's to short - enjoy the car - put miles on as it was meant to be driven :thumbsup Mod up - save old parts for "return" by next owner. Don't hide the changes, just respect the car.

Next owner will be my son in 50+ yrs (hoping to live as long as EP) :lol:cheers
